great film, really natural and funny

This movie did a really great job of capturing the nature of female friendships in a unique way. The main characters were quirky, but managed to not come off as caricatures or jokes. While the main characters were southeast Asian, anyone watching could relate to their families and their values. None of the characters were 'cookie cutter' at all and yet you could see yourself being friends with any of them. I definitely found myself laughing out loud throughout the film. The director managed to put in a lot of cute little touches that you normally don't see in short low-budget films. Example: while in the waiting room of the clinic, the girls at various points read humorous pamphlets about STDs.

The situation that unfolds in the movie has happened to countless people, and yet still manages to feel fresh. It's rare for a movie to be a character study and still have a good flow and purpose. Even though there's a pleasant resolution and the characters emerge with a newfound clarity, it doesn't seem hokey or cheesy at all.

Even though it's a short film, it crams in a lot of laughs and emotion. I look forward to seeing what this director comes up with next!
