Great filler
ntsayyzacarias17 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The reason why I classify it as a great filler is because "filler" can be often interpreted as a derogatory term, and give the impression that there's no value in the episode whatsoever, which couldn't be further from the truth.

We didn't move forward in the story, yes, but we did have some great insight into the characters, I for one completely related to what Alex said about Wilford. Confronted with his possible death, made me realize that I don't want it to happen, Wilford is charismatic, a genius and great engineer , but also, with some psychopathic traits and no regard for others lives. He is a complex character that can most certainly be loved. It gives some insight into the complexity of human relationships. Just because someone is bad doesn't mean that all that regard and love that you build up over time is gone.

I did expect more, but to be completely honest I'm fine with it. I can't wait to find out what's in New Eden and to see Melanie again so I can understand how slowing the pace of the story can be a bit unnerving.

Some good and bad filler

I did like the back story of Alex. As well as seeing Melanie again, even though it was only hallucinations. I thought they took it a bit too far with Alex when the Melanie in her head was telling her things like loving Wilford is ok though. Like c'mon now, that's just dumb writing.

Good character development
jorge_cs_9118 February 2022
This episode might be slower than the last few, but it actually takes its time peeling off characters and their struggles/traumas. Layton deals with Zarah's decisions in order to survive, Wilford faces solitary and struggles with his well-being, Roche deals with grief, Till and Asha look for purpose as they feel helpless, and Pike and Ruth bond. Meanwhile Alex confronts the ghosts from her past. Something is brewing.

This was a filler but I still enjoyed it

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was pretty much a filler but sometimes episodes like these are important so we can get emotional development on characters. Seeing Melanie again (even as a ghost) was really great and hope to see her soon alive and well. Latent still proves that he's a terrible leader and should be replaced. Xara has got me up the wall but what else is new. The relationship with Puke and Ruth was very cute as well. Regardless while I know it's unpopular, I still enjoyed this episode.

So boring!
lukashalb16 February 2022
Just filler, no real story, just shallow dialogues. And enough with the ghost Melanie already, she's dead, seriously who hallucinates that much? Is from some sort of fumes from the train or what? I get it that it's a format for flashbacks or to portrait the character thinking but, in every episode? C'mon.

Bound By One Track

Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers Ahead;

With Melanie back ad a hallucination for now, we are seeing the lives of our heroes inside Snowpiercer as they stumble into the dark past of Big Alice.

However there is something wrong with this season. The quality has dropped; most scenes have stopped delivering unique messages and emotions while many characters have become irrelevant and unlikeable (-2 points) . Snowpiercer has become a plan 45 minute of people talking and fighting. But let's ignore that. Let's focus on this episode.

We see Alex and Ben leaving Snowpiercer for their mission as Alex is haunted by her mother. I really loved the scenes with Alex's past life (+5p for that) and Melanie's addition as well (+3). Asha's unknown background and past makes me interested, and with the scenes of her going crazy, it made the episode a little bit better (+2p). What I didn't like though, was the episode's plot in general. Apart from the blocked rails story, the rest was a piece of nonsense. It wasn't even enough to keep me interested. (-2p). I gotta admit it was the worst episode of the season.

But still, I believe it will get better later and not now. I have high hopes for the rest of Season 3 and of course the upcoming Season 4 and probably the finale of the journey.

With that being said let's count the points:

Positive 5+3+2 = 10 Negative 2+2 = 4

That gives us a 6 "Average"

Hallucination Overload
machina227 June 2022
The writing on the show, which has been pretty good until the last couple of episodes, has suddenly found itself caught in this weird rut where half of the major characters are now frequently experiencing visions or hallucinations, and it's becoming OTT and ridiculous.

It's probably because they wanted to include Jennifer Connelly but ended up almost writing her character out of the show at the end of last season. So, having backed themselves into that corner, they felt the best way to give Connelly screentime was to have her character appear in vision form. Fine, I guess, although why they felt the need for two different characters to be seeing her in this way I don't know. But having done that you can't have any other characters also having visions otherwise it just becomes ridiculous, as it is here.

So we have:

Alex - getting hallucinations of Melanie.

Layton - getting ridiculous messiah-like visions of African trees and a 'new eden'.

Javier - getting PTSD visions of Wilford's dog.

Wilford - also getting hallucinations of Melanie.

And on top of that we also have:

Zarah - having PTSD flashbacks of the events in her makeshift refuge.

Alex - having flashbacks of her dead friend and Wilford.

Which character's next I wonder?
