Is no one going to talk about how this boy Miles just shows up again out of nowhere after 2 seasons, and everyone just acts like he has never suddenly disappeared?? The script writing is becoming wobbly at this point.. Also, didn't like how seemingly out of the blue Pike suddenly hated Layton and wanted to kill him, eventually killing himself with his stupid actions. I hope the season will get better after this point. Certainly ia the weakest season up till now. I want Melanie back!

A Tail Tradition

Warning: Spoilers
In 3x06 we see Layton's confrontation to Pike as the bomber turns out to be him. Meanwhile, we see Ross as he struggles with his life after the drawers.
This week's episode was better than the last two. It was full of action and it kept me interested throughout most of it. However the quality of the script has drastically decreased compared to the first two seasons and that's a big problem. We begin to notice that many characters have lost their special "touch" their way of speaking, and their style in general. (-5p). Another problem, that has been present in all of Season 3 are the filler scenes; There are plenty of things to explore in this season, but still the writers choose to show us boring dialogues made up of poor script. (-2p)
On the other side, I really loved Ross' reunion with his daughters by the side of Till and Alex (it seems that she has found her place in Snowpiercer beyond the engine) (+1p)
Layton's fight with Pike along with the episode ending were amazing but still, it didn't deliver full potential... (+2p). And finally it's time to tall about Audrey as it seems she's close to hit rock bottom before she tries to change. (just like Till said) (+1p)
-7p + 4p = -3p
So that gives us a 7/10.

Layton ruins the show

A natural progression to what can happen when one is constantly fighting for a way of life.

Pike simply lost it. He wanted the knives no matter what. The fact that none of the other Tailies would think that he could try to kill Layton or endanger his child shows that he had burned out. Ruth saw it but could not help him.
I don't see this episode as a filler but an example of a natural progression to what can happen when one is constantly fighting for a way of life.
Living in a train for 7+years at sub 0 degrees...many won't make it to the end...casualties of life..."I'm not a young man, I can't take a punch" Dubs explained
The writers and actors were on par demonstrating our human frailty.
It takes a mind with depth and critical thinking to fully grasp it.

3 1/2: disappointingly shallow filler

Warning: Spoilers
My first issue is that the main plot seems to come to a grinding halt every time they serve us one of these fillers.
We just want to see the main story advance and see them get to "new eden", or fail in some way. But these story threads accomplish nothing.
But my main gripe is that episodes like this one only hollow out the characters. Their motivations and beliefs change to facilitate every "exiting" plot twist the writers think of.
Wilson's quasi clearvoyance/ pike's radicalisation, level-headed characters acting al emotional, to name a few, only so the plot can move on.
So this is another episode where in a early favorite character gets killed of unceremoniously whereas Wilford is still alive. Only because the writers lost the track and seem to have no idea where they are headed.
As evidenced by the main storyline not advancing one bit.
Some good acting (go ruthy!) saves this episode and grants it its 3 1/2 but that's about it.
(also, how are there still tailies living in poverty with Layton in charge?!)
