NCIS LA team learns that there is racism in America
Saving2118 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So this episode, the writers tried to deal with racism that is against Asians Americans bc of COVID. Important subject but failed attempt. It's not the first time NCIS LA dealt with social issues, only they used to do it better, not giving us the feeling we are getting lectures or preached. We usually had a scene With hetty and other team member that talked about the larger issue than the current mission and that gave us the statement the writers wanted to address only in subtle and made us want to listen. This episode everything felt we are getting lectures on how there is a thing called racism and how things are wrong. Deeks even mentions to us how this is not America he loves, like where he has been the last 5 years!! When there was hate against Jews, Latinos Afro Americans etc' with people dying. That line was awful bc his team dealt with white supremacy before ,so he knows this is happening not just now.

The emotions they tried to give us didn't work because it felt they were over trying. The only good scene I liked was with Kilbride explaining to agent Rountree why he took the case with mentioning the days of WW2 and the arrest of Japanese Americans. That was good link between then and now.

What is political?
JasonSterling2918 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If an episode contains anything about racial hate the reviews are plenty and the rating of the episode is usually low. Making an episode about Japanese American hate is political but one about China or Russia isn't political?

I didn't expect to enjoy this episode when I saw what it was about but it was actually decent. NCIS:LA has stayed away from what is considered "Woke" but if the writers want to talk about racism I'm for it. There has been subtle mentions of racism before on NCIS:LA.

I had a two major issue with the episode. 1. Kensi and Deeks being more angry than Sam, Fatima and Roundtree that a hate crime was committed. Is that the writers way of saying people of their race should be more anti-racist? It felt weird. Hopefully they don't adopt a child outside of their race!

2. Why did Jack have to kidnapp the Father and Son? Its human nature to want to take revenge but he had resources to seek justice legally. I like what he said in the hospital. "We're not just the silent, docile, model minority type....". That's powerful.

Sam and G banter is always good! Get Fatima and Roundtree desks and get someone to run ops. Finally Roundtree asked a very important question why did OSP take the case. OSP usually goes after "high value targets" or cases that are major(selling secrets, terrorism). I am yet to see they investigate sexual abuse in the Navy or Marine even though it not usually what they do.

seriously?..
amsmall2713 June 2022
Agent Namazi said she endured racism as well as a Muslim. Please, you could at least cast a real Muslim to play her character. This actress is not a real Muslim. Hollywood becoming too woke and don't even bother t get their facts right.

This was really awful!
tlunnold19 October 2021
I've been a fan for years waiting for Heddy sightings, enjoying every quirky show but not this. Do they have new writers? A new director? A death wish for the series? The dialog was stilted and the actors couldn't save this episode whether they were regulars or one time bad guys- they must have all been so embarrassed to work on this massacre of a perfectly valid story. What happened here? Why such a train wreck?

Fukushu
bobcobb30128 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Devin and Fatima are starting to grow on me as supporting characters on the show. They need to do things to keep the program fresh and I don't even notice that there are no tech experts around anymore. I feel like the NCIS franchise always has to have someone in that role so maybe someone will pop up soon, but for now we are fine with no Nell and no Beale.

The case this week was pretty good too. Feel it got wrapped up a little too quickly though. The detective wasn't even focused on finding the attackers and then easily found them and held them hostage? Just doesn't seem believable at all, but whatever.

Great episode that deals with a difficult issue.
brittbak19 October 2021
Although many people have their heads in the sand about it, Asian hate crimes have escalated since COVID.

I was glad to see this show deal with this awful issue. NCIS: Los Angeles actually does a better job than many news sources.

I especially liked the matter of fact discussions around the issue by several of the characters, especially by Kensi and Deeks. If they are considering adoption, I'm glad they are giving some thought to raising a non-white child and acknowledging the difficulties involved.

Enough with the social lessons
wallacesimpson-2419920 October 2021
I am liberal as they come and this episode even offended me enough to write a review. Enough with the social lessons on the woes of our country. Stay in your lane, bro.

White Supremacists clearly hate this one.
mjackiw-165-31389624 October 2021
An excellent episode showing the rarely talked about hate crimes against Asians. As the comments show something addressing racism, hatred, bigotry, or misogyny strikes deeply into those who are supporting and/or committing the very acts portrayed and discussed. Keep up the good work NCIS:LA writers and producers, your message is too important to not be spread far and wide!

Oh my ... new season starts 0 for 2
JosephFabeetz21 October 2021
Let's put aside insipid treatment of hate crime issues to sadly say story telling, character development, and acting of this once fine show are now abysmal. I don't know how actors didn't retch delivering this script. Audiences - particularly in NCIS LA demographic - expect entertainment. Other media are awash in social commentary should audiences choose to indulge.

Regarding characters: Writers should "fix" Kensi and Deeks pronto. Their quest for parenthood is a back hole in every script. The Callen character teeters on brink of repetition. Do we care about his "identity?" No. Give him a mission so he stops examining his navel on Navy time.

Check your privilege
ilovellamasd23 October 2021
All the reviews are negative. You don't get to complain about a show tackling a serious social justice issue. If you have never been the target of a hate crime, you don't get to complain when it's talked about. Check you privilege.

Too Much Preaching
LJEANH20 October 2021
I love LA...my favorite of all the NCIS shows. But this episode went overboard with the preaching. And the acceptance of the vigilantism at the end was so disheartening. At least the Admiral spoke out briefly on the bad choice the son made. But seemed to condone it eventually. The closing scene with people watching the video also implied agreement with the sons actions. All around terrible episode.

Has CBS sacked all its script writers and employed rejects from 'Liberals Anonymous' in their place?
manofkent-6687619 October 2021
Appallingly dull predictable turgid propagandist script that made the episode unwatchable. There are ways to address such important issues as this and still provide entertainment. The rubbish peddled in this episode was not the way to do it. This script was more like a dumbed down school (2nd grade) detention lecture on the issue.

Turned off half way through because it was that awful. A complete 'Fukushu'. Did they catch them?

Too political
wquinn-1456819 October 2021
Turned it off after 10 minutes. Producers evidently don't care about bad reviews. They keep putting out woke material, that a lot of people won't watch.

Political
coltsteel18 October 2021
Worst episode ever and I will no longer watch this show. It was a waste of a good hour. It was way too political and one-sided political leanings and judgmental. The facts were not even historically accurate.

What happened to entertainment?
info-5182619 October 2021
I don't watch these shows to be lectured. I don't watch these shows to be preached to.

I don't care who's "message" is being preached; lectures and sermons are not entertainment.

The first 10 minutes was all sermonizing. No investigation. No looking for suspects. No crime solving. Just preaching. And more preaching.

I wouldn't matter to me what they were preaching about. I don't watch for preaching.

I'm done with this show.

CBS can go pound sand.

Almost as Entertaining as a Middle School Civics Lesson
man-9651318 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Enough! This was not "entertainment", it was a political statement.

Remember those middle school civics classes on "brotherhood"? This episode was far less appealing and far less interesting.

I seriously wonder why this show remains on the air.

Show has become preachy and boring. Nothing happens anymore. Called is still having an identity crisis, Sam is turning into a priest, Kensi and Deeks have been talking about a kid for like 3 years now.... BORING. Also, did they get the writers from old Gawker to write scripts now? MUh wHIte SuPrEmAcY...cHeck Ur prIVilEge...the woke exclaims!

Gutless casting
PardonTheTruth19 October 2021
This shrill sermonette might have been effective if they'd cast people who look anything like the ones actually targeting Asian Americans in real life to portray the bad guys.

What was their objective? The gramatically challenged reviewers who described this drivel as "brilliant" are already drinking the approved Kool aid.

I guess it would be too much to ask the producers to reflect the sad reality.

How can you get that much slobbering racial conscience in one episode?
swalker-1730522 October 2021
NCIS: Los Angeles always has its moments of "feelings" venting, generally gushed from G. And there's always too much baby talk from Marty and Kensi. That really needs to stop unless one of them quits danger job.

This time they tops themselves with a pathetic outpouring of WOKE concerning a hate crime against an Asian senior attacked by baddies. Every character got to expound on their personal feeling about racial injustice. How novel and cogent.

I could argue that our obsession with race is causing the problem, but let's just leave it at "Cut it Out!". Tell and action store that we can use as an escape from a nasty, pandemic world. If you can't do that, I can't watch.

Leftist agenda pushed again!
alinaconovalov18 October 2021
So sick of the political agenda that the left are pushing everywhere. They make everything about discrimination and racism. Used to watch this show to relax. Well, I guess- not anymore.

Woke trash ,used to be entertaining
dean-watson197018 October 2021
Start to finish political trash. Written to make you feel you are a problem and making out racism is everywhere. I stopped watching new Orleans for this type of poor writing, now I'm stopping los Angeles. Preaching TV. Newsflash the vast majority of people are nice and racism is very very rare .

One of the worst episodes of any show ever
cdbauer8626 October 2021
Signals the end just like it did for NCIS New Orleans... force feeding the woke culture... unfortunate because this used to be a good show.. now it's largely unwatchable.

terrible episode
mgl-9203724 October 2021
I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of NCIS LA, but I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of watching the series. Some episodes are exceptions. This is one--- I think it's the worst in 13 seasons. What happens to the writers? This was a very heavy handed, simplistic morality tale. The plot was not interesting in the least.

robertjc-219 October 2021
We get it. Hate crime. Got it. Less time telling us how much hate there is or how woke you are...got it 5 minutes into a redundant script. Tad preachy.

Looks as if NCIS L. A. is taking over for cancelled "WOKE" New Oleans. Your message will get it canceled Mr. Prouducer/Writers. Please get off the "talking points" and get off the leftist political statements.
