Can MI-5 prevent economic meltdown,
Tweekums11 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
This week the financial crisis provides the backdrop to the adventure, this doesn't make it any less exciting though. A banker, played by Ewen Bremner, has stolen account information from his employers and both MI-5 and his employers want to get there hands on him; the former because of the information about billions of pounds belonging to various criminals and other dubious characters and the latter who just want him dead. When the episode opened he was in an MI-5 safe house being quizzed by Ros and Sarah the dodgy CIA agent, he doesn't stay there long though as soon after Ros and Sarah depart the house is hit by an armed group who kill his protectors... luckily for him he was sitting on the roof having a smoke and managed to escape.

What should have been an investigation into financial irregularities is made far more important when Harry is told that the UK has to pay off part of its national debt the next day and can't afford to pay, in order to cover a billion pound shortfall without alerting the world to the problem it is essential that they gain access to those bank accounts. What follows is a cat and mouse game between MI-5 and a hit squad that appears to contain members of both Russian and Israeli intelligence agencies.

As well as the great cast of regulars Ewen Bremner does a fine job as the banker on the run. The episode was pretty exciting with twists that I won't spoil here and its events will clearly have repercussions in future episodes.

The character Sarah...

WORST Boston accent ever attempted. As far as I'm concerned, her character ruined a whole story arc. Never trusted her from her first entrance. She never got any better. Just waiting for Sarah to get killed off.

Sarah ruins this good show

OMG why do the show writers think all Americans have a southern accent? For eight seasons, all of the CIA agents have had at least a mild drawl/twang. And worse, why did they hire an Irish actress to play this season's Southern CIA femme fatale? Maybe it wasn't noticeable in Britain but the actress dropping in and out of a truly dreadfully botched southern accent is ruining every episode she is in for this northeastern American.

Absolutely Dreadful Accent!

I love MI-5, I really do, but the actress playing Sarah has the worst Boston accent I've EVER heard in my life, plus she drops in and out of it constantly. Seriously, just because she's from Boston, doesn't mean she even has to have an accent. I live in TX, and many people even here have no accent at all. She's an Irish actress, who clearly sucks at dialects, so why have her do a caricature of an accent? It's soooo bad! It makes her sound unbelievably stupid, and she's supposed to be some brilliant CIA agent. I feel so sorry for Richard Armitage having to listen to that grating, vile obnoxious voice for months of shooting. I literally am on this sight because I was looking up how many more episodes did I have put up with before she hopefully dies a horrible death. She owes Bostonians and Americans in general a huge apology for what she's done to one of our regional dialects. Please kill her off already!
