You can tell it's gaining its footing.

Warning: Spoilers
I trust whatever Jon Stewart does, I think most of us do.

I like the format, but you can tell they're still figuring out the right process, and they'll get there.

Solid start though.

I did like the interview he did with the secretary of the V. A. he made it an honest and open conversation, asked tough questions, but was respectful, and made numerous follow up questions.

You could tell the man he interviewed had his hands tied, he was frustrated, and he didn't have answers, because he couldn't give any answers without creating career suicide.

I think a lot of people have that issue, because they know if they don't have the job, some other guy will, and then maybe the problems will never get fixed. So this guy just plays the game hoping eventually he can make change.

That was probably the best part of the show. I personally wish he did what John Oliver does, I know he wants to get away from daily topical coverage. But his input on those topics are very revered. And if he just took the beginning of the show and discussed current topics I think it would be a lot better.

I know it seems like it's tacky and drawn out, but it's a format that works. Hopefully they get there eventually.

I think they have made 'returning home' so dangerous because now... every American Soldier is deadly in war... as they would rather be KIA rather than return back...

Review from an European

Apple is an American company and Apple TV+ audience is largely American, so I am not really expecting the show to focus too much on WORLD issues, but rather on American issues that can be transposed to the European reality.

I really enjoyed the first episode of this show. It was funny (yes), but also deep, sincere and informative, rather than superficial and trying too hard to get a laugh from the audience.

I am definitely going to keep watching every episode. It is culturally enriching and I like to understand the American reality has much as the European one.

Also, even though I am a John Oliver fan, I can't help but feel that he tries too hard to get that laugh from the audience, by sometimes evoking references that not always people understand. That is where he sometimes loses me.

I hope Apple and John Stewart can keep up the good work!

The old show but focused on real people and real problems

Thankfully this isn't just the Daily Show 2.0. Instead of a joke driven show on the politics of the day, this is closer to what Jon did with 9/11 first responders. He takes a step back and really lets his guests shine. It's heartfelt and sincere with just a touch of humor. If you downvote this without watching or watch this episode and are not moved because of 'insert idiotic partisan reason', shame on you.

Good, but title is misleading

Jon Stewart as we remembered him, putting the pressure on interesting topics and putting spotlight on the American lie.

But, it's not The Problem with WAR, it's the problem with Veterans Healthcare, or more precisely, with how the US Army disposes waste.

The Burn Holes, damage severely the veterans, as discussed in the episode, but they make significant harm to the environment, which is another American lie and inconsistency. That was the elephant in the room that wasn't covered or even mentioned.

I don't know any more about this issue than I did 43 minutes ago

A weak start, the old Jon Stewart would have provided more information in 10 minutes than the new Jon Stewart did in 43 minutes. Kill the producers meetings segments, provide data rather than individual anecdotes (also, a 6 person panel requires considerably more than 10 minutes) and don't go to an interview unless it introduces new information.
