Storytelling at its best.

Daniel is called in by Violet and Edith, who recount their extraordinary story, Daniel rays it to his father, who is recuperating at one of the family homes.

It's leisurely, and I get for some people that it may be a little slow, for me however, this has to be one of the single best dramas of all time, this second episode is the peak.

The story of Violet, Edith and Grace is enchanting, for my money the whole sequence is one of the best things I've ever seen, it is so incredibly powerful, I get that it's TV, but it's a story that I could completely believe and accept.

Just as interesting is the fractured relationship that exists between Alice, Rebecca and Charles, the bad feeling has so far been quite subtle.

The acting is again mesmerising, Macfadyen and Gambon are superb.

Awesome, 10/10.

Episode 2

Raymond (Michael Gambon) is recovering after his collapse. His son Daniel tells him a remarkable story about some members of the family, the elderly cousins Edith, Violet and Grace.

How two of them when they were girls were thought to be dead after a bomb dropped in their house but in fact survived and lived in the woods for years.

Raymond finds it all unbelievable.

Daniel finds out about a lost brother that Rebecca and Charles had who died in an accident a few years earlier.

Daniel agrees to do a favour for Rebecca and they become close.

Poliakoff continues Perfect Strangers at a leisurely pace. He uses stories, photographs and music to unravel complicated family relationships.

In the second episode you get a hint of maybe something lurking underneath with Rebecca and Charles. That they are up to something along with Daniel knowing of the rift they have with Alice.
