Amazing!
kmt03010-476-25686416 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Now this is what I'm talking about. This episode actually felt like a 9-1-1 episode, unlike last week's. I loved seeing the team work together. I love getting to see Eddie and Buck work together again, they have incredible teamwork. I loved getting more backstory for Ravi. I think he and Hen work really well together. I do still miss Chim and Maddie though. I absolutely loved Michael and David in this episode. It was incredible to see how amazing David is and I love them together so much. I was so happy when Michael said he was going to propose and the proposal was so sweet! I really hope that they aren't leaving the show for good though. That montage made it seem very final and if that is the case, I'll be very upset. I love seeing them with the rest of the Grant-Nash family. Michael and Bobby's friendship is incredible. And I was hoping for another episode like the one where they played detectives with David.

Tear jerker

I'm going to miss Michaels character so much. Why someone would not comply with Covid vaccines I really don't understand. Having lost a fit young brother who wasn't quite eligible for his, dying within 21 days of getting Covid I do get very angry about others saying it's a myth etc.

Love this family. However I could never live in their city...too disastrous....

Late shift starts.
mrmarckline18 November 2021
Well this episode did feel like it did , way back when the show started in 2018 , fighting fires , saving people , of course it would not be real , if someone did not die , this time that person unfortunately was a stage 4 cancer survivor who went back inside the blaring fire to rescue his former nurse and actually did save her and the new guy , just before a beam smacked him on the head , killing him instantly . The actor who played this individual is Dorian Harewood who has been around 46 years on stage and Tv and film , good job Rupert. For the rest of the show it was saving people from babies to kids to parents and doctors and nurses and a moving moment from a dispatcher who really has feelings and she showed class in the break room with a relief tear of joy.

I gave this episode a 8 cause it was almost real life the 118 stuck together to save lives , Bobby and his amazing team saved the day / night , but i do miss Chim , he can't be replaced.

The 9-1-1 I Know And Love Is Back (At least for this Episode)
gaslight-1261116 November 2021
This is the 9-1-1 I've been missing this season!! Amazing episode. The core cast all had great moments, the story centered around a massive fire & rescue operation (not cop drama like we've had for much of the season), there was an emotional and inspiring sequence that reminded me of season 2 rescuing Buck from under the fire truck. It had everything I needed and left out the things I've disliked most about this season. Whoever wrote this episode should probably write the rest of the season.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode gave me something that we've been missing all season Passion and anticipation throughout the episode I wasn't happy about Michael leaving, but the most important thing is that he's He found happiness .

Buck and Eddie I hope we get a reaction to their handling of their trauma And if that happens, I think it will be their new beginning.

THIS WAS A 9-1-1 EPISODE
grupodabigairada16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This was a marvelous episode, good action, incredible acting, amazing emotional moments, nothing like the mess that was the previous episode (the worst ever).

Michael and David deserved this screentime and I'm really happy for them (I wish we could have seen them actually kiss since they got engaged and be able to see more of them but since the actor who plays Michael has other projects I'm happy with the result even if I'm sad seeing him leave but I hope to see them in the future as guest stars and even for their wedding).

Eddie and Buck are really the greatest team ever, their connection is something else, they just need to look at each other to understand one another, also I hope they talk about what is going on with Eddie because he went through a lot and we never saw him dealing with it, also Buck because all season he doesn't seem happy at all and the few times he laughed or smiled was because of Eddie...

Another plus was the fact that Taylor was nowhere to be seen, such a boring and uninteresting character. We could see how the show immediately gets better when she's not around with her weird energy and her horrible relationship with Buck.

This is the 9-1-1 I fell in love with.

Great episode that felt like 9-1-1 again
psmomini16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A big storyline where the 118 came together for the rescue. The guest actors made the stories better, not worse. Hen and Ravi working together was nice to see, Bobby being the boss is always great and Buck and Eddie partnering up to save those kids was perfect. So glad they lived! The episode hit all the right emotional cues and kept me on the edge of my seat, something that's been hit or miss this season. If Rockmond is really leaving, I'll be sad to see him go but at least Michael and David got a sweet happy ending! Great episode overall, one of the best this season. Such a difference from last week!

My favorite episode
gpro-7411715 November 2021
I like this episode because it was exciting and fun. It had drama and romance. I think 911 is a positive show to watch because it a good show and I like the ratings for the show. I would watch it..

Good episode of a not so good season.
stillnotyourbusiness20 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline was well written, the actors gave it all and I liked that they at least tried to let Rockmond go nicely instead of just killing him off.

If they are trying to make us feel out of place, they are definitely achieving it. The 118 feels farther away than ever, we don't get the scenes of them at the station or at each other's houses being friends and spending time together. They seem out of place at work too, and it's actually very sad to see.

But overall, the episode was great. Very glad to see they didn't completely forget about Eddie's panic attacks and they will probably get back to it anytime. Looking forward to it.

The problem is that this season is one good episode and an awful one, so that makes you lose interest in the good ones. Such a pity, because I used to enjoy this show so much.

Your performative representation is showing!!
buckdiaz17 November 2021
It was a good episode, really enjoyed to see the show using the elements that make it strong: a nice emergence, buddie, the 118 and heartful moments. I'm sad to see Micheal go but there's no defence for Rockmund's choice. However, we need to discuss the problems with 911 representation, especially with MichealDavid. The couple never really received any attention or proper development, they were never allowed to show too much intimacy or affection (they found time to show Bucktaylor kissing twice in a rushed and packed finale, but MichealDavid bareilly hugged in all of their scenes). There's a clear discrepancy between the way they treat their LGBT caracters and their relationships compared to the straight ones. That's one of the reasons I lost my excitement for the next episodes. We just know that even though Bucktaylor is the most hated couple of the show, they'll probably get a lot of screentime and the writers will try to force a sad storyline to keep them together. I'm not even wasting my time watching the episode on monday because if they stay together I'm not watching it all, I've had enough disappointments so far. There's another time jump comming and this awful couple lasting more time just show the writers don't care about development and just come up with stuff when it's convenient for them. Micheal's departure weakens the poor representation portrayed until now, I wonder how they will fix it. Inserting another caracter that gets no screentime would just further their problems but the future of 911 doesn't look promissing right now.

I really hope I'm wrong and that they can still surprise us. I see the viewers are dropping fast and I'm close to quitting too, let's see if the writers are trying to keep us around or working hard to push us away.

Solid Episodes Terrible Season
sfier-5443116 November 2021
This felt like the old 911 it was a solid episode but this season is just so all over the place Buck and Eddie barely have any scenes together the 118 doesn't feel like the 118 anymore Hen and Chim aren't in scenes together the best thing about this season Is Ravi I really hope they are brave enough to do Buddie it would save this season. It's sucks they got rid of Michael but queer characters never last on this show hopefully they actually give Hen and Karen scenes :(

Looking more familiar
allthingsao16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode looked and felt more like the 911 I used to love before whatever mess that is season 5 so far was decided on. Defend In Place had all the good things I like, the team working well together on a rescue, some lovely tugs on heartstrings, the team also using their brains to think through what felt like a hopeless scenario (the boy and his baby sister).

Michael and David's engagement was lovely, and I'm happy that it 'feels' like they're getting their happily ever after. But I really have a bitter feeling in my gut about how that went down in this episode. If this was a straight couple, they would have kissed when they got engaged. Now, a kiss isn't the be-all-and-end-all, we know that, but you know if they were straight it would have happened regardless. And for all the pointless guest stars that the show currently has, you want to get rid of Michael and David? You want to break up the fantastic portrayal we've had with the whole mixed family/step family setup and the lovely dynamic we've had between Michael, Athena, Bobby, and David? It doesn't feel right at all. Especially when the found family element of the show feels so fractured right now.

I don't know, this was a good episode overall but these characters leaving doesn't feel right, and I can't help but be suspicious about why it's the gay characters the show is having leave - especially when they didn't even get a normal engagement reaction of a kiss.

Really missing the old 9-1-1
clumsyliz16 November 2021
This season has really felt like the writers lost the formula that made 9-1-1 so great. I love the firefighter stories and different calls and being able to laugh at least once in an episode. This season has been pretty heavy - resembling so many other shows on right now. This show was so different from the rest and that's why I loved it. It had few long plot lines (ones that were there were for character growth and not just for dramas sake), had great 9-1-1 calls, and most of all - had a perfect balance of drama and humor. The drama happened yes, but it didn't stay heavy for too long. This season no one is happy (with the exception of brief Michael happiness this episode) and it's focusing so much on smaller characters which don't add much of anything besides drama. It definitely feels like they are scrambling on how to do the show without Maddie, and I really hope they find their footing again soon. I really do love this show.

The best this season! Spoilers!
JMadems16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So happy TPTB got back to basics and returned to the formula that made them the best show in this genre. Sad to see Michael and David leave but was handled so well. A gracious tribute to the pair, especially Michael. And they kept him alive which means he can pop back occasionally. So classy. Best of all channel 8 without a reporter! Thank you! An unnecessary distraction- there's no redeeming that character so give it up and send her packing. Even Claudette proved more human than Taylor. Cut your losses and move on!

Loved the true hope and faith scene. Very nice touch. And started by Athena - great job. Always love the music you all use! Between that and the filming - always so good - a big part of this show!

Congratulations! Returned to your roots! Please keep that thought!!

The best episode in the season 5 so far. I think that this show needs more episodes like this, with more explosions and fires and not too many crazy emergencies.

Love 911, but couple minor oddities.
celticwarrior_amazonwoma16 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've never noticed anything to really nitpick on this show. This is prob my fave show next to Chicago franchise.

They needed a cause for the hospital fire, but when the nurse person went into the storage closet and slipped on the puddle on the floor and fell down, and then other dude helped her up, there zero chance in a hospital that they both would have walked out A)without cleaning up whatever the spill was and B) probably not reporting the incident. This is hospital protocol. And the second weird thing was when she kept forcing the door to close. Anyone in their right mind would have looked for an obstruction either on the bottom or the top of the door. And finally, they could have done a better job picking a 'prop' baby for the boy to be stuck in the hall with. That baby the boy had in his arms was not remotely newborn. Like the baby was literally born not more than an hour before. That kid was at least a month old I'm guessing. Other than that amazing show as always.

Felt like a 9-1-1 episode
tangostargirl-161-18083316 November 2021
If you didn't tune in this week because you were disappointed last week, happy to report that 9-1-1, a show about first responders, is back! As is the family-we-chose theme. Plus, the big emergency was suitably dramatic and worth watching.

[9.5] Defend in Place

I loved this episode. Finally 9-1-1 is back on the saddle. It is filled with action and emotional scenes. It was perfect!

And beyond that I don't think I have anything else to add on that.

Too pompous!
athirn19 November 2021
I don't like when filmmakers push on my emotions, trying to squeeze a tear out of me. It's a sign of a bad written story. And in this episode it's really obvious: characters cry too much, hug too much, pray too much... And self-sacrificing is shown as an extraordinary and exceptional thing... for rescuers and medics. Who would think their jobs are so dangerous and stressful?! I'm shocked!

I know, this is just a TV series, not a serious big screen movie, but even for TV it's too primitive and straightforward, I don't appreciate such approach.

I thought this was the best ep they ever had. All main characters had solid roles. The stories within the story were engaging. Even the background music added to my enjoyment.

dpruett-3867521 November 2021
This episode was so over the top. And for this show, that's saying a lot. The emotion was forced, the story lines were garbage. Do better 9-1-1. IMDB wants more characters but honestly this episode doesn't really deserve much more.

wellieegee-81149917 November 2021
This show seems to getting more and more religious, that last big action montage with everyone holding hands etc was just too much. It's an action drama, not a Jesus channel show.
