Disappointingly creepy
ctstudent0018 November 2021
As a gay man, I'm disappointed in the portrayal here. Butch comes off kind of creepy, especially when one model said that Butch comes over first to "make sure everything is groomed". And he doesn't miss an opportunity to touch the models below the waist when the camera isn't actually shooting for the calendar. Maybe this came across differently in 2010, but in this day of heightened awareness of consent it hasn't aged well and just perpetuates the stereotype of the older gay man as an opportunistic predator.

An exercise in extreme self-indulgence
Coralknight31 January 2017
In the genre of aging gay men who desperately want to believe they are still desired and relevant comes this pile of narcissistic tripe. It's served up under the guise of a gay man, Butch Cordora, (who maybe once upon the time believed he was "hot") trying to make some sort of statement for equality by getting "straight" guys to pose naked with him on camera for a calendar...because you know...that's what equality is all about: the ability to objectify your body for immortality by having guys buy prints of you they can pin to a wall. Seriously...do people even use paper calendars anymore? This film would only appeal to a) gay men who find the lead attractive or the concept of getting straight men to get naked intriguing b) friends of Butch's. The only reason I gave two stars is because I sincerely feel sorry for some of these men who consented to participate here, as they almost come off as having some sort of mental or emotional issues. I hope this has not harmed their lives in any way other than a big face-palm kind of "what was I thinking???"

interesting study of human interactions.

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting study of human interactions, and the how people react to odd, unusual requests. The story of how people meet, what they tell their spouses, and the outcome of the project. Fun story. A wide spectrum of reactions to Cordora's initial invitation to participate in a nude photo shoot; some are just fine, some accept with trepidation, and some flat out refuse, for a variety of reasons, some of which are shown on screen as part of the documentary. Radio and TV personality Butch Cordora decides to make a calendar where he poses with only straight guys in various poses. Must be a big fan of the Beatles, since two of the pages re-create iconic, historical photos. Pretty intriguing story, especially since one of the models participated but apparently hasn't told his spouse, and didn't want anything to do with the project other than to model for a quick photo shoot. I wondered if any of the sales from this went to charity... if that was stated, I missed it. Currently showing on the FilmRise channel. Not much info out there about Cordora. I see his IS currently participating in a fundraiser for LGBT groups, which is great. I also see that he has made more calendars highlighting LGBT issues. This would have been a great entry for film festivals... was it shown at any?? Doesn't appear that it was.
