Pretty bizarre film

"Les divines amours" or "Divine Love" is a French French-language movie from 2001, so this one will soon have its 20th anniversary and this is the first filmmaking effort by writer and director Jean-François Ferrillon. And that lack of experience does show in this slightly under half-an-hour movie. I think it is more his problem than the one of the cast. There are only 3 actors in here and the story is fairly strange. Even if none of the actors were really great, then they still did the most they could with the occasionally abysmal material. We have a woman in an apartment who gets harrassed by her man, so she calls a common friend to pick up the man and he does and takes him to his home. And after some strange dialogue, the one who picked him up (the black guy who is a cop apparently) has sex from behind with the one who annoyed the woman and it is not entirely clear if it was consensual. Then a lot of uninteresting uninspired stuff happens before the cop finally also has sex with the woman that he helped before. If there is any real reason to watch this movie, then maybe because of it being a bit of a guilty pleasure. But not in its entirety either. At times, it is just uninspired garbage and it definitely is not realistic whatsoever. It feels like a mix of fantasy (without real fantasy elements though) and softcore porn while being elaborated on as a comedy from beginning to end. It felt too long for me despite not even running for half an hour and dragged quite a bit at times. Overall, the only question here is if it was just a bad film or a completel failure. I would go with the former, but it is a close call. Not recommended.
