This quality drama ends in real style. Just when you think poor Peter Matty is finally sorted, and all his problems are at an end, the rug is pulled from underneath his feet, and he's continuously placed in trouble. The Doll is noted for being Durbridge's last book, and he hadn't lost any of his magic, the story is full of tricks and red herrings. The end of this one is a true shocker, it's a conclusion you genuinely don't see coming, the list of suspects is large, and it's fair to say they opted for the least suspicious. Great acting once again, great that Geoffrey Whitehead gets more to do.
It's been quality drama the whole way through, great that it ends on a real high, it's one to enjoy over and over. 10/10
