I saw this picture at an NYC screening and was blown away. In The Attic, an out-of-control cop, consumed by hate and anger, destroys himself, his family and everyone he touches. Mr. Muntzner's writing is outstanding in this gritty tale and his performance is out-of-this-world. What true indie films are all about. No glitz, no glamor, just amazing words and stabbing emotions. I loved Candice Lenoir's depiction of a desperate mother hopelessly addicted to drugs. And watching it reminded me of Attitude and The Connection, two other dark gems worth checking out. Now you may not find The Attic in theaters, but if you like your cinema strong and black, I strongly urge you to check it out on video. You won't be disappointed.
