I have watched this episode quite a few times now and I'm always in tears at the end when Mick breaks the sad news of Mel's passing. The tears on the faces of all concerned are genuine I feel as the loss of a friend and colleague is felt by all. The music chosen, Eva Cassidy, really captures the mood. RIP Mel.

Brilliant Christmas special.

Mick, Janice and Michael arrive to spend Christmas in Benidorm with Madge and Mel, unfortunately he's stuck in Morocco. Su Pollard is set to perform at Mel's Palace, but a mix up sees her end up in Murcia. Noreen arrives with her friend Clive.
Packed full of surprises, special guests, and a little different, as hardly any scenes take place at The Solana.
Wonderful episode, the brilliance of series three carries through to this wonderful Christmas special. It's brilliant, but it's hard not to watch it without a degree of sadness, it's hilarious, so many great lines and funny scenarios, but knowing that poor Geoffrey Hutchings has gone, it's so sad.
That moment where Mick tells Madge that Mel has died is an incredible moment, it's so moving.
How strange to hear Brenda Lee playing out in sunny wether, the presents opening scene is lovely.
I'm so glad that Lesley became a series regular here, a shame there are a few missing guests, no Gavin or Troy, no Geoff. I only wish Su Pollard had become a regular, she's fabulous, what talent.
Sublime.
10/10.
