Original and full of laughs
tmuir14 April 2011
What The Facebook Faux Pas does is take a simple mistake-one that could almost happen to any of us in this age of social networking-and it exploits it to a hilarious, unpredictable end.

From the introduction of the main character, you can tell he hasn't quite grown up, from the store he runs to the way he interacts with his mother, and especially the jokes he plays on others. For once, though, he didn't mean this prank. As the story unfolds, he gets his "payback" by being sent on a guilt trip for causing many funny, albeit unfortunate incidents to befall his neighbor's family, and ultimately, the threat of "de-friending." The path the audience is taken is one filled with laughs and unpredictability. Just when you think things are starting to calm down, another wrench is thrown into the story, culminating on the end, where his rival uses Facebook against him for the ultimate revenge.

The story is original and genuinely funny, and pulled of perfectly by the actors' performances. My only complaint is that I wanted more when it was over, but this was also a strength of this short-it ended before it dragged past its time.

A timely short film from Cleveland Ohio

Warning: Spoilers
Witty internet wise cracks, a local star studded cast, and neighborly antics abound in this Cleveland, Ohio Short. In a time where Facebook is a staple in many peoples lives this film asks the questions, could one's "posts," be harmful? Once something is submitted on the World Wide Web is it possible to undo a misprint or will it spiral out of control? All these questions and more are answered in the "Facebook Faux Pas." Dan Myers is the main character. Dan likes to play pranks on people, one could say he is a funny guy; he works at a novelty/comic props store. Myers does not have a good relationship with his neighbor. Yet, when Dan's mother tells him one of his neighbors family members is dead he feels obligated to post his sympathies on Facebook. Little does he know this information is incorrect. The prankster, Dan, learns that not only did he post the wrong information, but that it set in motion a "snowball effect," of problems for his neighbor. The short ends with the prankster having a prank played on him (to his neighbors enjoyment).
