Warning: Spoilers
"Pokémon Apokélypse" is a really short film from 2010. It is about Pokémon and it is live action, which already shows how big of a challenge this probably was for writer and director Kial Natale. And he made the most of it. It is basically gritty dark version of Pokémon in the real world. Doctor Oak and Misty get abducted and Ash gets blackmailed that he has to lose a fight intentionally in order to free them. It may sound a bit ridiculous, but it really isn't. I also like how they included Team Rocket and surprisingly it was not too awkward to see them as actual evil guys. If there is anything negative I can say then it is probably that the action was almost too much for under 3 minutes, but Natale justified it by presenting this as a movie trailer and from that perspective it is all good again. If this should ever be made into a full feature film, I guess I'd probably watch it. For such a short film, it probably doesn't get much better and I think that it is almost a must-see if you like Pokémon. I also felt that the monsters themselves were depicted pretty accurately, but it probably also helped that you saw them only for a brief moment every time. But you saw many of them and this makes up for it all. So yeah, I think this was even closer to an 8 than to a 4. See it.

May be spoilers if haven't yet seen trailer, no deep plot summaries though Warning: Spoilers
Great, but terrible Pokemon animation. I will describe my 'hate' first, to prevent spoilers. Pikachu looks like a really thin ugly creepy- faced thing, like all the other crappy live-action versions of the Pokemon Anime. All the animations are just not realistic.

SPOILERS MAY BE AHEAD! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE, AFTER GIVING THIS ALERT!

Okay, okay. I am not trying to make it obvious that Ash is 10 years old forever but in the cover of the movie it shows Ash as some 26 year old or something. Despite that, they kept his name the same. The movie DOES mention that it takes place several years later but in the Pokemon World, trainers who caught and train Pokemon would generally be aged 10-14, or else have a professional job. The next factor is that the first part of the movie trailer seen is about banning 'PokeFights'because Pokemon get hurt and the award is money, as a demonstration of the games. But this movie IS based upon the anime and in the anime.... There is no such similar gambling like that. They removed it from the anime because it was aimed at kids. The movie also includes SWEARING, and I am 100% sure that at least 10 kids in the world have once heard/watched this movie as the Pokemon Franchise just has loads of fans who are under 18s. But; Don't worry, this movie both has the pros and cons under this feature.

Structured as a trailer for a non-existent film, Pokémon Apokélypse is set in the fictional Celadon City, and takes place several years after the events of the original anime series. The plot focuses on Ash Ketchum (Lee Majdoub), a Pokémon Trainer who commands creatures called Pokémon to battle other Trainers' Pokémon to advance within a league setting. Formerly a global sport, it was long since outlawed due to outcries of animal abuse, and instead continued in underground arenas, where the fighting became much more brutal. Despite warnings by his friend Brock (Kial Natale), Ash takes part in the battles with his Pokémon, Pikachu. When approached by Giovanni (David Quast), the head of Rocket Industries, with a bribe to throw his next fight, Ash turns the offer down. In response, Giovanni threatens Ash's former mentor Professor Oak (Richard Toews) and girlfriend, Misty (Rebecca Strom). Deciding to keep them safe, Ash accepts the bribe, and Pikachu is nearly killed in the match.

Quickly regretting his actions, Ash revisits Giovanni and returns the bribe money, declaring himself out of the league. Enraged, Giovanni declares Ash and his friends dead, and sends his minions Jessie, James (Julia Lawton and Gharret Patrick Paon) and Meowth to carry out the retribution. As a result, Oak is killed, Pikachu and Misty are assaulted, and Brock is tortured. With the help of Pikachu, Brock and Misty, Ash goes after Giovanni and aims to take down Rocket Industries, declaring he will not stop until he has "caught them all". The plot isn't that bad. If you care a lot about the movie then don't blame me for reading this. I warned you above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
