The most obvious use of the word "numb" refers to Richmond, whose legs are useless. He wants so badly to continue to campaign against the Mayor, who is still making hay, even after Richmond was eliminated as a suspect. Other numb characters include Holder, who is starting to slide downward. Mitch, who has run away, leaving the boys behind. Terry, who has no life and is the only thing the boys have. Linden, whose efforts are constantly short of success. Jack, who has no real life with his mother, who is totally directed toward the case. Stan has gone to see Jane because he knows of no other place to get help. He is given some awful news. One little issue I have with this series is the day by day thing. It's hard to imaging that all this is happening in a couple weeks. It seems that so much investigation gets done in a really quick way. Still keeps us jumping. Sarah makes a startling discovery as we end the hour.
