I was given the chance to sit down and watch the 2010 Thai horror movie "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover". But I have to admit that I wasn't much fan of the 2009 predecessor "My Ex", so it was with some hesitation that I sat down to watch "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover". But still, since it was a Thai horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I found myself sitting down to watch it.
And as it turned out, "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover" was just as less than mediocrely entertaining as the 2009 predecessor movie. So there wasn't much of any improvement to the 2010 movie.
For a Thai horror movie then "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover" felt rather mundane and tame. It wasn't really a scary movie, though director Piyapan Choopetch definitely was making use of a lot of jump-scares, to the point where it was beginning to just wear thin.
The storyline in "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover", while it was rather straight forward, just didn't really impress me, much less provide proper entertainment. Sure, I managed to sit through the entire movie, but this was definitely not an outstanding or impressive foray into the Thai horror genre.
The acting in "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover" was adequate enough, though I didn't really find any of the performances to be overly memorable. I am sure that the actors and actresses were doing their best with the limitations of the script, character gallery and dialogue.
"My Ex 2: Haunted Lover" came and went without leaving much of a lasting impression. And I can honestly say that this is not a Thai horror movie that I would recommend you spending your time, money or effort on. There are far better choices readily available, if you enjoy Thai horror. My rating of "My Ex 2: Haunted Lover" lands on a less than mediocre four out of ten stars.
