Can we remove all the Keeley parts for a while?
rookescanor3 May 2023
We know that Ted Lasso is not a show based entirely on football but also upon the characters based on the wonderful sport. We have indeed received enough footage of Lasso himself in this episode to be satisfied and yet it feels the whole thing's becoming more of a filler as of late with side-tracks including Keeley's POVs and all that. It's great to see unique relationships but capitalising and putting extra screen-time on them beyond need is boring and side-tracking away from the fun parts of the show. Not to mention all the rich-person themed storylines are often not so streamlined with what Ted Lasso as a show was all about. It's becoming a show-off of commercialism. If they are taking football as a theme, they should justify it. If they are taking people and relationships as a theme, they should try to keep to the themes. Not get into some pompous plutocratic storylines. Else, in the end, it was a satisfactory episode. I hope the show doesn't become a drag by the end of the Season.

Too little Team, too much Keeley
spcakebread6 May 2023
The best episodes are all about Ted and the team. Their journey together. It's the appeal of the show. It needs to keep football and Ted at its core.

Keeley just isn't as relevant. She's a side charachter at best, and frankly quite annoying. I think the best part of the Amsterdam episode was she wasn't in it much so we got to see the core characters. This episode focused too much on her and her relationship, which I just don't find interesting in the slightest. I see what they are trying to do with the issue they are trying to raise, but please stick to the football.

A great show, but not always great episodes and this is an example of one to forget.

What's happened to this show?
timetwister63 May 2023
This show used to have high quality writing and it used to truly respect its characters to a high degree. I find myself getting really frustrated when watching this instead of feeling relieved and excited because it just feels like the writing crew gave up on character development and just kinda makes whatever character do whatever they want whenever they want it. Also, where's the football? This show was incredible because of how it balanced football, drama and comedy but it feels like football has taken a huge backseat, comedy has left the chat and drama has brainwashed a once beautiful series. I hope that Keeley Jones' character gets justice for how they've messed with her development this season. I hope Roy continues his character development as he trains Jaime to get better and better. I hope Ted and Nate can finally have genuine conflict resolution and I hope we can start seeing football take the centre stage again soon.

PLEASE RESTORE TED LASSO TO ITS ORIGINAL GREATNESS!

A Messy Heap of Blah
DivineCove3 May 2023
At one point during the episode I said out loud, "I just don't care." And that's the bottom line. The entire storyline fell in a heap for me. Not even flat. Just a messy heap of blah. I couldn't tell if the acting was off, or if the writing was pffft, or if the director was asleep at the wheel. Of course there was a sweet moment or two, but not enough to elevate the rest. Trying too hard. Awkward. Missing the mark. Stale. And it makes me sad.

I have loved this show and remained hopeful that it could wrap up in grand fashion. This episode left me questioning whether I might be wrong about that. If the remaining episodes aren't already written, maybe the writers' strike will shake things up a bit. Something needs to happen. Ted Lasso deserves better than this.

When will they play football again...?
anzeigenleitung4 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
When did Ted Lasso become a full-time soap opera? I mean, I acknowledge the heartwarming story arcs about Ted, Keeley or Nate but when will the show go back to why we all love it, the actual game?

This episode started with a rushed Rickmond on a winning streak and then it was just another soap episode.

Why dropping the ball for another episode about love, relationships, divorce pain and stuff?

Where is Rupert and Becca? That's at least interesting.

Where is the team besides doing the right thing over and over again?

Why do we no longer exploit the language issues with Ted?

When did we drop Roy Kent?

Ted Lasso needs to go back to the game and win or even winning the league in the end will feel pointless.

Love and appreciate the heart of this show
kfdreed27 May 2023
I personally loved this episode, and don't understand people being so bothered by them taking a stance on relevant issues. The show has done that all along, and if people don't like it they're missing the heart of the show. I greatly appreciated seeing a group of young men collectively decide to go against cultural norms and choose respect for women. Rebecca's support of Keely was also a beautiful example of what women need. Watching Jamie's transformation has been moving. My only disappointment was how Roy handled the situation, and I hope he redeems himself. I've loved Season 3 and really don't want the show to end!

The Best Part of this Show
chris-rozakis25 May 2023
...often is knowing how many people will proceed to whine about "political statements" and "LECTURING THE AUDIENCE!" every time a character says something which amounts to more than just nationalism or Western "wisdom" about life.

I don't think I've ever seen so many fans of a show with over a dozen characters receiving prominent storylines - all of which usually come back to the theory that while integrity is important, being tolerant of other people's is also important - then proceed to whine and complain so much because "someone said something they disliked" or "the character I use as my analog for myself wasn't exclusively featured as the lead in every, single episode."

It seems that the people most intent on telling everyone else to "take a lesson" from a work of fiction (rather than just asking yourself what you got from it) are now upset that the show is trying to "teach them a lesson" that they don't like.

thought some might call it hypocrisy but
notscarlettjo11 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Didn't expect that just few people were actually showing empathy.

Hated it when the show tries to bring up some real life issues but only gets comments like "the Keeley part is not important or narratively relevant..." I believe every girl would be strongly related to Keeley once we realize the problem she's having, and we are all super concerned about what is gonna happen in this episode, and there goes your so called narrative significance.

I admit there are some technical flaws but I think the writers did an excellent job on how to approach the issue that most girl would face in their lives. I love how this show doesn't picture Keeley as a victim but really focuses on her reactions to those who assume she should be ashamed, embarrassed or devastated (like Jake, who suggests that Keeley SHOULD be a victim and apologize for her mistake, even though it's just a PR stunt).

The world always wants to justify men's behavior (in this case taking pictures and leaking them) by scapegoating and demonizing women with sl*tshaming, and it puts thoughts into a girl's head that if she shows her body in public her life would be over. But in fact sl*tshaming shouldn't be the thing that can destroy or hurt a woman even a little.

Getting her video leaked is NEVER Keeley's fault and she knows it (since the only thing she cares is why people she loves can't UNDERSTAND her) (god i love her), so it's time for the rest of the world to do some self-reflection, and there goes the locker room scene - an epitome of a better society or a wishful thinking. Some might consider it a little hypocritical or too idealist, but at least it shows its attempt.

This scene is also a not bad discussion over the intimate relationship between sportsmen (men working in the man lead field) and their partners, which in real life deserves much more attention considering that too many male footballers have cheated on their wives. Oops, sorry Gerard.

---

*BTW, those who claim the show is great because it's all about football... Guess what, no premier league club can be functioning like this!!! And you can't turn the game around just by some speeches or master yoda lectures... I mean, you see how Chelsea is doing this season?

(For me the most beautiful thing about this show is how it elegantly turns the society into a football pitch and a locker room.)

A standout performance from Juno Temple makes up for mediocre episode
annieburke-725827 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Like the previous week's episode, this week's takes from real life. This time with a photo/media hacking scandal (similar to a massive leak in 2014) in which Keeley Jones is among the victims. We find she made a graphic video for an ex of hers and Juno Temple portrays so many sides/emotions of Keeley's predicament well. Anxiety, over the initial leak (she has to be calmed down from a panic attack by her current partner, girlfriend Jack), confusion over different invasive questions, being able to laugh at it for a moment with Rebecca, to anger over Jack shames her for making it, to a huge sense of relief when Jamie comes over and hugs her for what's happened. Jack walks out because she feels embarrassed that Keeley had made this video, not only as her girlfriend, but as the main investor in Keeley's PR firm. Keeley is not ashamed that she made this video, as she made her own choices to pose as a topless model and have those pictures taken with her consent.

Juno Temple's performance makes up for a rather mediocre, often messy episode that also features Ted's ex, Michelle and her current boyfriend and Ted and Michelle's ex marriage counselor, Jake, dropping their son, Henry, in London so they can vacation in Paris.

Keeley's character isn't the problem... It's the writing in this episode
mattrabbi5 May 2023
I didn't mind any of the episodes thus far this season, some were a lot more enjoyable than others, but this one... ugh To start, I didn't mind the storylines themselves that they were going for. Everything involving Ted was decent, though not the show's strongest, and I enjoyed the soundtrack and look of the show as always, hence the 5 stars. Also enjoyed Nate's side plot, though I don't understand why he's suddenly being redeemed while having completely been on the sidelines the whole season. Maybe there will be a payoff later.

Keeley gets a video leaked online, which is a very tough thing to go through. But to link it with the rest of the show, they give us a locker room scene with the team, with some of the cringiest dialogue I've ever heard. It may as well have been a cheaply made HR training video. But then that's it, other than a few scenes with Keeley's exes (her scene with Jamie was probably the best scene of the episode), they never find a way to make us CARE. Instead, Keeley is in her own side plot with a new character that we don't care about at all. Why? Because the writers never made us care, yet they somehow managed to fill so much screen time with her and Keeley.

I also found many other dialogues, even between characters we've come to know and love, to be very odd, forced, or out of character. Plus, somehow I didn't laugh at all the whole episode. None of the jokes (if there were any?) landed, they only got a slight smile out of me during the scene between Keeley and Jamie. I don't get it?? I feel as though in an alternate universe this could have been a good episode, but the writing was mostly just subpar, seems to be due to new writers for this one. Hopefully the show gets back on track.

Perfectly standard and good episode
peregrinenation13 May 2023
The other reviewers are crazy. There's nothing bad about this episode. I'm invested and had fun. It was a bit lower than other episodes but that's fine, it's a breathing room episode, setting up for the rest of the season.

I think that some people found the locker room discussion about deleting ex's nudes to be "preachy" because they have personal biases. I think a lot of the content in this episode particularly about Keely people aren't ready to hear, so it struck a nerve.

I was expecting a lot worse given the abysmal ratings for this episode but it was not bad at all. Watch it and make your own conclusion.

too much of Kelly and unnecessary filler...
marwan117 May 2023
For a person who loves Ted Lasso like me .. I am bored of the amount of stuffing, scenes and many unnecessary things, but they take up more than half of the episode .. That disgusting relationship with Kelly .. I spoiled the character .. The writing was not balanced at all, rather it was random and full of fillers .. The entire topic of the video basically had no need, literally.. Half of the episode passed on Kelly and her friend, the video, and things that have nothing to do with the main story.. Only the writing, if it improves a little and the writer focuses on the course of the story, will be better.. As for the answers, I liked the philosophy The relationship between Ted and his son and his jealousy towards his wife even when they are divorced.. I liked his relationship with his son and the scene of the song was very touching for me.. The psychological conflict that Ted and his son go through and the feelings.. A wonderful drama.. An episode in general is good, but the writi .. And the stuffing that doesn't make sense if they remove it is better.

Sad song and make it better
ossie854 May 2023
This episode delivered a great performance from Juno Temple as Keeley Jones. This actress has always been one of the standout performers in the show, and this episode was no exception. Keeley is going through some tough times, and this episode showcased her vulnerability and strength brilliantly. Temple brought so much depth to the character, particularly in the scenes with Jack. It was a touching moment that brought out the best in both actresses.

But what really stood out in this episode was the message it conveyed about consent and shame. The conversations between Keeley and Roy and Jamie was particularly impactful. It highlighted how important it is to listen to and respect each other's boundaries, how speaking up about one's needs and limits is vital, and how shame should never be associated with who you are. It was a powerful episode that addressed a critical topic.

However, the episode did feel a bit talky in some scenes. The show usually portrays its messages subtly, and the dialogue can be concise and effective. Still, in this episode, some scenes felt like the characters were expressing themselves more than necessary, which may have affected the pacing.

It was a fantastic showcase for Juno Temple's acting chops and sensitively addressed a critical issue while delivering laughs and heartwarming moments that make the show a joy to watch.

Aaaw, bless. There's people who think this is a show about football
ShippersAreEvil6 May 2023
This series has always been about the character journeys, and for all is idealised and sanitised depiction of football, its delight is how it has use that to shine light on three-dimensional characters. We met them all as stereotypes (even Coach!) and all have grown as the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune have shaped them.

So spare us the drivel about "it's all soooapp oppera now!" and "why so preachy?"

If these are all the insights you have come to, you have not been paying attention.

Keeley, from the outset, has been central to the story; Ted's relationship with his wife and son has been his moral compass; Jamie's growth from self-regarding oaf to thoughtful and kind friend and clubhouse champion has been superbly executed.

Things happen and people are changed by them. That's not soap opera - that's storytelling. Try to keep up.

Keeley Overkill
darren-hibbert3 May 2023
Ted Lasso is being taken over by Keeley Jones, whose clumsy, poorly developed story is threatening to end a magnificent series on a low ebb.

Whilst the heart of the show is as strong and wholesome as ever, it kind of feels like an exercise in ticking off the tackling of different serious issues.

This is a really low point for the show - Beards night out got slammed but it at least showed character and was kind of fun, this is entirely miserable, preachy and downright disappointing.

After the high of the Amsterdam episode - which really was great, I just hope there is still episodes more akin to that, than this serious disappointment.

Not the best episode - but tackles important subjects head on.
xSAMIxJOx7 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Looking at the current reviews made me kinda sad. Keeley's story line is extremely important both for the show's story line and tackling a true social issue with victim blaming. The locker room conversation around the leaks perfectly portrayed how it is easy to have a middle stance opinion until it happens to someone you know.

Adding in Coach Beard's moment with Henry outside the pub while Ted talks to Rebecca - personally, this episode will hold a special place in my heart.

These raw topics are what makes the show what we love and I think that will be made clear as the series wraps up if this is truly the final season. To those calling it a soap opera, I am not sure they understand what a true soap opera really is...

Soap opera with comedy elements
askeland894 May 2023
I will admit this season have had it's moments but episodes like this seems to be a recurring theme. It's plagued with poorly written storylines that seems to be going absolutely nowhere. It is in fact starting to feel like a soap opera, and not a very good one. I'm worried about the state of this show and at this point I doubt it will have a worthy ending. The humor is still spot on and I still find myself laughing at the jokes but it doesn't excuse the rest of it. The episodes are longer than the previous seasons and as a result it suffers from too much dead air and too much forced drama.

The only thing keeping me watching is the characters. Been following them for three seasons now and they've become a part of me.. For better or worse.

Ted Lasso hits all marks
adindavw5 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the negative reviews this episode is getting, due to the Keeley storyline overshadowing the football. But I do want to share how for me, as a woman, this episode was incredibly heartwarming.

The scene in the locker room, with grown men discussing why it's ethically wrong to keep photos and videos that might harm the sender, got me emotional because it was so incredible to hear how they speak to each other and help each other understand in an very respectful way how to do the right thing. The fact that they care for and respect Keeley moves them to do the right thing and to me that's just great writing.

For me, this series hits all the marks. The comedy is so intelligent, the lessons we learn are philosophies we should repeat to ourselves forever, and the drama knocks it out of the park each episode.

I can't wait to see how Isaac handles Colins secret, how Nate will turn around and find Ted when Ted will need it most, and I'm looking forward to see Roy having Keeley's back. My theory for Rebecca is that she is pregnant by the Dutch Casanova with a boat, and that she will find true meaning for her life in motherhood.

Each week I'm excited to see the new episode, but I'm filled with sadness each time knowing this is the last season. So thank you to all creators, there is absolutely no other series like Ted Lasso and it has brought me more than I can express.

Total series

OR Good things come to those who wait. This one was built up through the past years and now it's attacking. Started slow-slow, as the credits' song says and it's currently "all out attack". Opened as a sports "The terminal" and now makes sense. Some say it's filler episodes. How could it be? Well, two words; character development. Heartwarming, touching softly some delicate matters. Great music, great atmosphere, (so) natural acting. The week has got so long and ~55mins shorter than ever. It has been a lot wait, but it repays. I just hope it stays this way. The only thing I don't get is why is this the final season, since it still has so many things to say.

Like the thought of the day in He Man
Tostig667 May 2023
That's how my wife described it. In case you don't know, 80s cartoons quite often ended with a 1 minute morality lesson. It was always the most boring part of the episode. Ted Lasso season 3 has taken this idea and stretched it to 50 mins!

It's dull, preachy and concentrating on the least interesting characters. The show is called Ted Lasso and he's barely in it anymore. I'm also pretty sure it used to be a comedy but I can't remember the last time I gave more than a thin smile.

Back in 2020 this light comedy drama was what everyone needed the hope and positivity was a great antidote to a lockdown. The scenario was never robust enough for hard hitting drama but now nobody is the antagonist and every week there's a life lesson to learn- considering the bad language it has to be aimed at teens/adults it's fair to say the viewers already know these life lessons.

Worst episode, who wrote ans okayed this
So Ted lasso was one of my favorite shows. Season 1 and 2 were amazing. Season 3 has been pretty bad. There have been a few good moments . Episodes 8 was amazing. A few others were good. But whoever they got to write this episode should not be allowed to write for television. Everything was a political statement a message or a lecture. Almost none of the characters actually felt like they felt even in season 3 let alone previous seasons. It feels like writer simply used the show as a platform to make 20 political points in this episode some of which I agree with. I don't watch television to get a political lecture even if i agree . I dont like seeing soap opra episodes lecturning me , They need to start letting one or two people write the whole show and not handing it peacemeal to random writers .

Very said becuse again love this show.

The show has lost it
prnrywcj4 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Another lackluster episode of what is starting to feel like a different show from what we all fell in love with. What happened to the writing? It's all just a bunch of loose story lines and none of our favorite characters feel connected.

The Keely tape story line may be one of the show's worst of all time. I really hate what they've done with her character this season. With the longer, drawn out episodes, her PR firm plot has gotten way too much attention. Perhaps the most upsetting part of this plot, is that it's what ultimately outs Colin to a teammate, because after some (terrible) dialogue from the team, Isaac has the (stupid) idea to make everyone on the team delete all of their photos (also stupid) leading him to swipe Colin's phone from him. Hopefully Isaac keeps it to himself. Colin deserved better though.

Additionally, are we supposed to feel good about Nate's character? I know he is clearly trying to be redeemed, but did the writers forget that the audience simply doesn't like him? Am I supposed to be happy for him for dating the world's worst hostess (who previously hated him, yet another stupid and unrealistic plot line). Between him and Keely this season it might as well be named the Nate and Keely show.

Which leads me to Ted. I understand that the point I'm going to make was what essentially the episode is about, but c'mon Ted. It's been 3 years since your wife divorced you. We've all dealt with this grief but by making Ted so increasingly vulnerable and emotionally unstable, we lose him as a the figure of optimism that made us watch the show in the first place. The show used to be uplifting. This season, however, is not.

This was another episode that is all over the place. It feels like there is no set story this season (what was the point of Zava? Shandy? Etc). This must be the last season. Because truthfully, if the writing continued this way, I doubt I'd watch a 4th.

Ugh, these ridiculous stories are getting painful.
FreddyShoop4 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think it may be time for the showrunners to be looking for an offramp to end this show. Clearly, the writers have less and less to say...that makes any sense in Ted Lasso World.

Fortunately, this episode was slightly better than the last one, mainly because it had more Ted in it. But, there's been almost no character development. They're speeding over the football stuff that used to take episodes before, speeding over the team clashes, etc. Etc.

Can they please kill the Keely storylines please?! They're becoming so annoying and cringy. Before, her high energy, excessive yapping was a nice comic foil for Roy's laconic, brutish, bulldog grunts. Now that they aren't together, I'm really hating her character. Speaking of excessively happy 1 dimensional characters, Sam and Dani need some upgrading as characters.

Most of the writing is just painfully bad. Last week they tied strings to their penises out on the pitch....only a child would find that funny. This week, the whole team had a big pow-wow about social media and photos on their phones. Awful. Yeah, like the whole team is going to do that with their personal stuff. Then the story gets sillier with the enforcer finding a picture he shouldn't have...oops (yeah, saw that from a mile away). They should bring back the sports psychologist, and they should have Rebecca follow up the Rich Woman/Poor Man (from Amsterdam) thing.

I'm still not quite sure Ted was so fixated on his ex. Wasn't that a season or two ago?! I mean she's sleeping with someone else, and so is he (i.e. Sassy) but we're supposed to believe this is throwing him totally off his axis?! Oh, and why make Ted's kid, and coach Nathan's girlfriend so bland?! I mean they could use cardboard cut-outs for their characters.

Bottom line: The show is running on empty. But we all know they're going to drag it out for another season or two, so Lasso/Rebecca can prevail over Rupert/Nathan. Ugh.

Absolutely painful!
srirajasekar5 May 2023
What is happening to this show?! The first two seasons (especially the first) were amazing and now suddenly this feels like there are some apple folk trying to bring in social issues etc into the series. One of the magical aspects of the show is the underdog nature of the football team and taking the viewers on a comical and inspirational journey of the Richmond team. Now there seems to be no football and has turned into some rom com. Come on team - Stick to what worked so beautifully in the first couple of seasons and remember what drew your viewers in in the first place. Really sad to see the decline of this show.

Story given the back seat to a lecture
justabox767 May 2023
The top priority of this episode was clearly to lecture the audience on what the writers feel is acceptable behavior. The writing was weak, the dialogue was absolutely atrocious (that scene in the locker room where they are taking turns talking about what do do with pictures was absolutely painful) and the story and characters which should be the highest priority suffered for playing second fiddle.

There have been some highs and lows in an overall good series, but this episode is absolute garbage for no reason other than the writers desire to preach at the audience instead of crafting a quality story.
