Awesome doc!
KassandraSantos3 June 2014
The Global Groove Network is a must see documentary for any electronic music lover. A fascinating glimpse into the electronic music scene. As a former club kid/raver/go-go dancer and Dj, I found myself brought back to some very fond memories and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the doc. The EDM community has always represented non judgement, love, acceptance and kinship and Courtney James documentary shows us the essence of this with The Global Groove Network. I think that anyone who hasn't been a part of this culture will, after watching the doc, be able to get a real good sense of it and more than likely will want to experience it first hand. Awesome Documentary on EDM!

Interesting, exciting, and informative documentary about the evolution of EDM and how dance music is all about a communal experience. The film maker does a fantastic job of weaving together the history of the DJ and the evolution of EDM music with his own personal experience discovering the scene and the friendships and personal connections developed from connecting on the dance floor. It's fascinating to hear perspectives from a slew of top DJs such as Armin Van Buuren, David Morales, Nic Fanciulli, Sander Kleinenburg, Pete Tong and more, share their opinions and experiences on the craft of DJing. There is truly something for everyone in this film, and whether your a fan of EDM or not, you will be drawn into the energy, the music, and people (djs, producers, and fans) that make this scene what it is - a community. A network of individuals that connect through a shared passion of dance music. I'm so glad I contributed to the Kickstarter campaign so that this movie could be released for the world to see! Definitely recommend watching or buying so you can enjoy this rare look inside the EDM scene and the people that make up the Global Groove Network!

Global Groove hits the Groove

Very interesting subject matter, trendy, informative, well shot and edited. Comparison between rock bands of the 60's and DJ's is an eye opener. DJing as an art form is dealt with and Courtney the director, zeroes in on that concept. The fast-paced montage technique is well suited to the subject matter and for anyone who doesn't really understand the whole creative force and dynamics behind DJing will be taken through that classroom. would highly recommend this film to anyone who is either directly involved in the aspect of the music industry or those who really know little about it because the way the information is brought out is very informative, yet educational.

The Global Groove Network is truly Global

The Global Groove Network took me into a world that I never knew existed. It was an interesting and exciting trip. The interviews with the DJs in locations throughout the world were fascinating. I was a kick-starter subscriber and feel that it was money well spent. Any person interested in modern music in general or the product of DJs would be well advised to watch this well thought out documentary. The passion of the director is obvious. I was particularly interested in the history aspect of this DVD. The various locations throughout the world make the title applicable. I found large positive crowds in Miami particularly interesting.

Wicked fun that'll make you dust off your dancing shoes!

Loved this film when I saw it about a year ago in Toronto, and so happy to see that it is getting out there! Great movie if you are in the mood for something positive. The blending of interviews with people in the music scene through a personalized narrative makes it move along at the right pace - just like the tunes it is talking about!

The bending of personal narrative with the interviews works well because it is a good way of getting the history of Toronto's house/electronic/etc movie scene told in a way that links up and sets the stage for the venues and musicians that are around today. The personal narrative adds a good dimension in that we see how Toronto's scene is linked to other cities, and the cross-pollination, that goes beyond "just music"....but always brings us back to the beats!

Total must-see and wicked fun that'll make you dust off your dancing shoes! Will very much bring back the club-vibe when you watch it.

The beat kept me watching while grinning ear to ear!

This is a great doc. I had the pleasure to see it a year ago at its first public screening and I walked away with a smile on my face, a felt rhythm in my body, envious that I had not been part of the Toronto scene back then. It did teach and inform me in that perfect way that takes the observer through an experience without knowing you were learning anything at all. Courtney did an exceptional job weaving together the early days of house, his journey into electronica and the role of today's DJ as Dance hall Mega Stars. I was captivated by the continuous movement throughout the film. Last week I had the pleasure to see it on the small screen carried by a documentary cable station and I was just as charmed the second time. A film well worth experiencing!!
