Drake is worth watching.
TV_Gourmet12 January 2023
Drake (John) has emerged as the leader based on his acting being the most believable and authentic. When I watch Meg (Mary) I feel like I can see her "acting". I don't think she feels comfortable with the "take charge" role. Also I'm not feeling the chemistry betwween Meg and John. I find scenes with John's mother boring. I hope Tom Welling brings some needed charisma. Give us action and less dialogue. I like JoJo but I would rather hear about his love life than listen to a self help group for PTSD. Have to agree it's too woke and not an entertaining story line. We want to see him walking and moving, running and chasing. He's so vivacious, not sitting at a therapy meeting. I love Nida and her banter with JoJo. There is a lot of opportunity for humor there, but I cannot understand a word she says. I need subtitles for her. Costumes and music are great. I am a huge fan of Jensen and Daneel. I can see Daneel's hand at work here, especially with the costumes and creating a milieu. I am rooting for the cast to grow and improve, and for story line to find new inspiration for the series' success. I think emphasizing each actor's strengths and making it a real ensemble will help these young actors not have to "carry" an episode. Be creative and take risks. Don't worry about harkening back to supernatural- branch out. Get some new writers in the writers' room to mix things up, some young up and comers.

A strong finish to the first half of the season
drprofessorsong9 December 2022
A jam packed mid-season finale, but maybe not entirely in the way you expect. Yes there is action and some movement forward on the overarching plot line for the season, and they are fantastic (serious nod to director Richard Speight for some really entertaining and engaging fight scenes), but perhaps even more compelling are the big character moments we get.

This show continues to have a lot of heart and there are some staggering "show stopper" moments I won't spoil except to say the episode will have you laughing one minute and holding your breath the next so you don't miss one word of the emotional dialogue. And the pacing of this episode is gorgeous, giving those moments plenty of room to breathe.

The cast truly shines in this episode. The team is together for most of the episode letting you appreciate the true ensemble nature. There continue to be great combinations (I would watch Millie and Ada all day) and the chemistry is deeply compelling.

This episode finally gives us some closure on certain points, while still leaving you wanting more on others, and leaves you in a place wanting to know what happens next.

good connection to the original
matheusdelimamendes6 January 2023
I really liked what they are doing in this continuity, the experiences lived by the characters that we saw in the front that connect with supernatural are making the series even better.

Roxy offers to trade Mary Samuel for the box. Meanwhile, the group tries to summon Henry Winchester's spirit to answer their questions.

These issues of the parents of the winchesters brothers are well reflected in the series with some references to the original series as we can see in episode 4.

The series tries to cause fear like the firsts seasons of supernatural which is very different from the last seasons.

A 3 is being generous.
Njinked21 December 2022
Barely a 3. This show is so slow- makes no sense. The acting is so stiff - and everyone has this weird attitude that is annoying and not necessary.

They need to come up with something that feels like the original Supernatural, because watching this, I feel like I'm watching something completely different.

-how do they keep allowing other boring shows stay on for many many seasons, yet cancel all of the good ones, like the DC ones and other superhero shows? They are also trying way too hard to be "woke ". It's just week after week trying to feel bad for these lifeless characters, with bad acting.(very bad acting), and they know they're trying to make the wardrobe match the time. But even that hurts my eyes.

-it makes no sense why they cancel so many shows that had potential, but give some thing like this a chance.

2nd Time watching and it's even better

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS FOR FINALE I'm in a rewatch of the series and having the knowledge of the shows ending and it being a parallel world is giving me a new perspective.

Some beautifully shot scenes and fight choreography with great camera movements in this one. There's that emotional connection parallels between John/Henry and how Dean and John were. This is the episode where John and Mary finally kiss and you can see the beginnings of a strained yet loving relationship with John and Mary's issues.

This show doesn't feel like SPN because it's its own show, and if you think of it as a new show it's much enjoyable than comparing it to the mothership.

Good work Jensen and team!

Debbie Downer
popsy96417 May 2023
When Carlos said "I don't want to be a Debbie Downer....." I thought this phrase did not exist back in the 1970s! And it did not!!! It was first used on SNL in 2004,so why do the creators not do their homework before using terms that weren't around back then? All through the first 7 episodes of this series it's been full of ridiculously modern day dialogue and, wokisms and, utterly annoying politically correct tripe. Are they in fear of offending snowflakes if they truly portray how life was when this series was meant to be? I really love the soundtrack but now I'm waiting for songs post 1975......
