So very much an early '60s short
stevergy200018 July 2021
Produced at the behest of a manufacturer of syrup with which to top baked meats, this charming musical short has a housewife singing with a pot on her stove about the challenges of preparing delicious meals for 'her man'.

I don't know which I found more off-putting: the overt objectification of a wife worried that 'her honeymoon is over' and now she'll have to really earn her keep, or the advice from the always obliging pot to not waste time by purchasing already washed spinach and already cut up lettuce. That women's role were regarded with such condescension and that actual physical labour seems to have been only for the unintelligent were twin paragons of upper middle class society in the fifties and sixties. Hopefully, our attitudes have matured since then.
