'80s reunion
Leofwine_draca5 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
FRIEND REQUEST is a serial killer-themed indie thriller featuring a couple of once-popular 1980s stars which makes this an '80s reunion of sorts. A serial killer stalks his prey via social media, which is timely enough, but the film suffers a great deal from the usual problems associated with independent cinema, i.e. a budget so low that it can't stage anything particularly interesting or memorable. It feels very much like a '90s Hollywood B-movie, only cheaper. Martin Kove, of THE KARATE KID fame, has a small role here, but for the brunt of the screen time the focus is on Anthony Michael Hall, that geeky ginger-haired kid from THE BREAKFAST CLUB, WEIRD SCIENCE, and many others. He's unrecognisable these days but I did get a kick out of his presence.

This is probably one of the only movies out of many to see a blatant shutterstock watermark in the background as an establishing shot.

I clocked out at "shutterstock."
TokyoGyaru6 January 2021
If you can't be bothered to at least attempt to make your film competently enough to where an editor or at least someone could catch the "shutterstock" logo on the establishing shot, I can't be expected to continue to watch it, now can I?

Just pay for your stock photos guys
scarletvonklutz10 July 2021
The only reason to watch this trash is so when you get to 8:07minutes you can rewind and laugh with the rest of us when you realise the "police station" has SHUTTERSTOCK written over it. It surely can't cost that much for 3 seconds of stock video?

The only reason I watched the rest of the film was to see if I could find anything else to laugh at. One scene did, I'm no doctor but I'm not sure a crash cart is going to be much help for a slit throat. Everything about this film is just so bad. I hate myself for suffering through it. If you feel the need to punish yourself, you'll find this on Amazon Prime.

I want the 90 minutes of my life back

They use shutterstock images, which is weak, and use a terrible lead actor as a drunk-off edge cop. Very terrible story, acting, directing, picture, and plot

You lost me at Shutterstock
AHaloInReverse1 August 2022
I actually had to rewind and screencap this because I was so floored by it. Who is so cheap as to put a watermarked image in their own film. They didn't even pay for it!!

That right there is all you need to know about this piece of crap movie and no talents attached to it. If you can't pay 3.99 for use of shutterstock footage, you shouldn't be making movies.

Sad and pathetic. If I could rate this lower than 1 I would. Deep dive into the negative digits for this pos. Watch Prom Ride instead, that's another piece of garbage but they at least had the rights to the music they used. Unbelievable.

Watermark???
ryleilove25 June 2022
Seriously there's a watermark...I mean I know I can't expect much with low budget films but THAT I do not expect. Glad it's free, otherwise I'd be pissed. I'm only 9 min in. As soon as I saw the watermark I came right to IMDb because I knew I couldn't be the only one. Idk if I can continue, I'm gonna do my best to suffer through. But yes there's a watermark guys. And yes it's low budget so don't expect much. Just read the reviews though most talk about the watermark, ha, go figure.

Awkward. Plot twist ok. Script bland
melissagladden19 February 2019
Script / writing was not up to MJH abilities. U could tell he wanted to sink into the role but the dialogue and his fellow actors gave him NOTHING to work with. Premise good. Script bounced around on screen badly. MJH only reason I continued watching. He has the chops to make any movie great..but this one failed on a script level.
