I am writing this review with tears in my eyes. After an episode that gave me everything I ever loved in my life. It pulled me right back into the good old days of my early childhood, watching the best show ever made. This episode gave me the most nostalgia I've experienced since The Clone Wars' finale. It's a masterpiece, without a doubt. This review is a tribute to its greatness.
After watching "The Clone Conspiracy" I already was overwhelmed and had to write my first review. I spoke of some points that were absolutely outstanding. All of these points can be find in this episode as well.
The story of the clone revolution is exactly what the show needed. It reminds me of the greatest story arcs in The Clone Wars, full of epic moments that you will never forget in your live. I am certain these two episodes will join the legacy.
The sheer amount of famous characters showing up in these episodes is just overwhelming. Bail Organa, Senator Chu, Mas Amedda, Captain Rex and of course EMPEROR PALPATINE. The moment he arised in the senate was pure epic. I had a feeling that he would show up to clean things up, but I never expected such an powerful appearance.
Senator Chu, Captain Rex and The Bad Batch tried to bring justice to the Clones and they were so close. But of course the greatest villain of all time, the mastermind knew everything and was, like Rex said: "one step ahead of us". When Senator Chu proofed that Admiral Rampart destroyed Kamino on purpose he just "twisted it to his advantage" and now his empire made a huge step into the direction he wants it to go. I say it again, this scene was the most powerful I got in 2023.
This would be enough to give this episode a 10/10 but there is even more.
The MUSIC.
During the first episode I recognized something on the soundtrack, little melodies of a title well known. When the second episode continued with that and even gave me some more I knew that they brought it back. Kevin Kiner's "The Clones" one of the most recognizable melodies of the original show made its comeback.
And then the last scene of the episode came. Echo leaving the squad to help Rex fighting for the clones should not be that emotional. But seeing how Omega reacts, crying and saying farewell to Echo with "The Clones" now at its full lenght playing in the background was too much to handle. I was still shocked by the events happening before and combined with the emotional scene and the pure nostalgia of the music I started crying. Memories of the Clone Wars came into my head, I could see scenes from the show before my eyes.
It were tears of joy and sadness at the same time. Dave Filoni and Kevin Kiner, thank you for not just making this day the best of the week but also giving me the best hour of the year so far. May the force be with you!
