Defies Being Good

Warning: Spoilers
After eight episodes this show is becoming increasingly worse with each weekly passing. The writing is just pitiful and reminiscent of the terrible writing that prevails throughout science fiction shows of late. The fact that Irisa threatens the entire town every single episode is ridiculous. She threatens her adoptive father every episode, she holds a knife to someone's throat regularly and she continues to put everyone's life in danger. That alone makes the show stupid and unbearable--but that is only one bad aspect.

The prostitute character is an absolute waste of television time. This was obviously done because there was a bit of a following with Firefly and the "companion" Inara. But there is no charisma or use for the Kenya character and she just bogs down the show. Not only does she bog down the show, but the character of Stahma Tarr is unbearable to watch and her dialog drags on and on with no supporting role to the series or the storyline of the show.

The idiotic reality show (which prevails everything now) of the inter-species relationship is beyond bad. The Tarr family vs the McCawley family has past it's interesting prospects about 20 years ago. This Hatfields vs McCoy in just about every single science fiction show with aliens is old and worthless anymore.

The topper is that Joshua Nolan is modeled after Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly) and the charisma and personality are not on par with the screen writing from Firefly. Nolan is not a likable or interesting character and another waste of television space.

I had high hopes for this show because O'Bannon did such a fine job with Farscape, but this is not Farscape and all the possibilities that could have gone on with this show have not happened and the show just drags on and on and on and on.

The show is just as bad as the video game -- which also drags on and on and on with no apparent end in sight.
