Typical Kendo porn "pre-splintering"
lor_15 December 2015
Prolific British director Kendo has gone through at least four recognizable periods so far (he's no Picasso of porn, but does deliver recognizable styles), his self-derogated early gonzo period; switch to sensuality plus kink/fetish (of which "Dark Desires" is an example), the experimental "splintering" flirtation with avant-garde editing, and finally his current "normal porn" period of straight-ahead eroticism. I like the recent (last couple of years) best, but this middle range video has its moments.

Those moments come due to casting, as Kendo's players are pretty hot. Sasha Rose is among his best big-bust actresses, and Jasmine Webb probably the most accomplished Black actress in British porn at this time. Also reliable is Michelle Moist, her unfortunate choice of stage name belying real talent, and Jordan Pryce a true Eastern European bombshell of the huge fake tits variety that definitely appeals to me.

Kendo, as is his wont, micro-manages their movements and in fact they do behave as models (what he calls his performers) rather than actors here. What's wrong with the video is that it doesn't deliver on its promise - claiming to be exploring the dark side but rather timid from a porn point-of-view. Fetish is always present in Kendo's universe, but other than some latex, foot fetish and panty hose visuals the BDSM one would expect is not forthcoming. The women are languorous, the men (including regulars like Pascal White and Clarke Kent) standoffish, and the entire erotic content presented at a distance.

After watching dozens of Kendo's features I think I can finally peg him as a frustrated visual artist whose proper home would be in creating installations for a free-thinking (read: open to explicit sex depictions) art museum. Narrative skills and engrossing content are beyond his ken- he's only interested in presenting imagery (erotic) to gaze at. Frequent use of black & white plus his fondness for repeating images over & over again are the key tip-offs.
