Babe and switch....
NullUnit22 September 2023
The cover poster of this film is NOT representative of the film itself. While it CLEARLY targets the "voyeur" aspect reminiscent of 80s "snow girl" classics. The women on the cover poster are NOT in the film, nor do they represent anything close to the (only) two women in this film. It's nothing short of false advertising and "bait and switch."

There's that old saying "The camera adds 10 pounds" But this film has me wondering if it's not quite a bit more.

The women in this are not unattractive. They are simply a different type of woman than the cover would have potential viewers believe. The two women in this film are NOT thin white girls with no tattoos or piercings, having "apple bottoms" and smooth bodies ready for the beach - nothing could be farther from truth. How a film maker gets away with such misrepresentation is a mystery to me.

Clearly the budget is low, which is fine.

The comedy is stupid.. which is also fine, if it were anywhere close to funny. It's not.

The acting is fairly atrocious.

The primary problem is the entire film is predicated on finding these two women to be "babes". That didn't work for me. It may for others. There are long, drawn out montages for "tease" moments... But, well, if you don't find these women particularly attractive.....

modern day sexploitation

Wow, how we have evolved during the past few decades. This thing falls short of any decent skin shown in the film.

At least when you watched this type of movie from the 70-2010's you knew you were going to see some butts, boobs, and hot sexy chicks.

You obviously need something like this to be able to watch such a poor storyline with horrbile acting skills. Not even sure where they found these 2 girls. They do not fit the profile for a sexy movie. Goes to show how backwards we have gone making exploitation films.

Definitely nothing like Porkies, American Pie, and all the other great movies growing up.

The girls on the box looks nothing like the girls in the movie

Also, despite the name, there are no babes in this movie. The main character is disgusting looking. Even with pillow fights and massages, there's nothing sexual or even sensual in this movie. I can't think of anything redeeming about this movie. There is no humor because the movie annoyingly takes itself too seriously, and there basically is no plot. Much of the movie is senseless like the gorilla costume. Why?

Jamie Morgan is especially bad. The IMDb page says it had a $100k budget. I don't understand why they couldn't have afforded someone less worse. The only thing in the movie as bad as her was the ridiculous looking fake CGI snow.

The only positive was some nice shots including drone shots of the ski slope and lodge to start the movie. It goes downhill from there.

Hashtag Not Funny...

Needless to say that I had never heard about the 2023 comedy "Snow Babes" prior to stumbling upon it and opting to give the movie a chance. I will say that the movie's cover was somewhat reminiscent of a 1990s comedy, and that was initially was made me pick up the movie.

Writer Albert Oakes didn't exactly deliver a grand script here. While I have sat through worse and more poorly written storylines in other movies, then I will say that "Snow Babes" was by no means a grand comedy experience.

The acting performances in "Snow Babes" were fair enough for what they were. It was somewhat amateurish, but it wasn't exactly cringeworthy bad to behold.

The CGI added snow effects was just cringeworthy to look at. It didn't even remotely look like real snow. Sure, it was not that it was a bad effect, but it was just so blatantly fake that even a blind man would go 'really now?' And then there was the water effect in the shower scene, wow, just wow.

This is a low budget movie, no doubt about it. And I am sure that there is an audience out there for a movie such as what directors Tim Hatch and Mark Polonia delivered here. I suppose if you enjoy the movies of Mark Polonia, then you might find something to enjoy here. I can't claim to be in that particular select group of people, so this was not a particularly enjoyable movie for me.

My rating of "Snow Babes" lands on a two out of ten stars.

DEFINITELY DON'T WATCH THIS GARBAGE!

JUST AWFUL! This is possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. As others have mentioned, the cover photo isn't representative of the actresses in this movie. Speaking of the actresses, atrocious, worst acting ever. Worst script ever. Worst direction, makeup, pretty much everything in this movie is the poorest example of film craft. Everyone involved with the production of this should quit the film industry and go just about anywhere else. Well except teaching film making. Those who can't do teach would certainly not apply, these people need to be in another industry altogether. They should all be really embarrassed and ashamed of this.

Definitely has its faults.

Unattractive leads are not among them. The sheer number of reviewers upset by an unwise marketing gimmick and/or describing the actresses in at best uncomplimentary terms only doesn't surprise me because while it reflects on a certain kind of reviewer, I already knew that (qv similar reactions to comedy specials by a fine comedian, one whose cousin is a senator) and- no surprise.

The special effects- in the background perspective snowskiing, for example- and some of the plot and dialogue were not great, though some of the latter had their moments and the film was still fun, just not exceptional.
