Well-written and played character study
lor_16 April 2019
Jet Michaels fashioned an excellent script, concise and evocative, for the seventh volume of this ever-popular (and ongoing) Sweet Sinner series. James Avalon's tight direction made me wonder, for the nth time, why he never graduated to mainstream cinema -clearly having all the tools.

Veronica Avluv, who normally is squirting her little heart out in lousy gonzo videos, has one of her best feature roles as a never-been actress, shown in a brief screen test (replete with a clapperboard listing 1957 as the year of shooting as the DVD's first shot, highly misleading) but marrying TV Movie director Evan Stone after amassing only a couple of minor credits.

Her Robert Frostian dilemma of the road not taken is the central theme of the show, which revolves around mainstream show business rather than the usual porn about the Adult biz.

Seth Gamble is a hot young star of a vampire movie franchise (think Robert Pattinson), who visits Evan and Veronica for dinner, with his girlfriend Ash Hollywood, who happens to be Evan's daughter. She doesn't like her stepmom, and Seth is even apologetic for her, drawing him close to the lady -an inevitable plot element in all these The Stepmother volumes.

One gets a three-dimensional performance from Avluv, surmounting the genre format that provides over two hours of XXX sex and just a few minutes of acting and conversation. The discussions among the four leads about art vs. commerce in the movie & TV world is astute, and it was easy to forget in the NonSex scenes that one is watching a porn video.

For both exposition and sexual variety purposes, a scene of India Summer as Avluv's sympathetic sister humping her husband Alec Knight is integrated into the story in the slot of "extraneous sex scene" but far better than just that thanks to the expertise of Jet and James, as well as the reliable veteran players.
