As good as an independent cheap documentary can get

This documentary is as good as it's going to get without big financial backing. Off course financial backing would be a double edged sword anyway. It could be more streamlined, it could be a bit shorter, it could have better production and most of all it could have benefitted from more actual wrestling footage. But having official backing from a big company also means you have to tell their version of history which is often very different from reality.

If I can give one critique it's that the documentary is not critical enough of ECW. Yes they talk about the lack of a business plan and the financial issues but not enough about the dangers of what those guys did in the ring back then. They also don't talk enough of what made ECW not work, besides the financial part. Of the problems with the product and that it was never going to appeal to a big enough audience to be a big player.

Another thing is that everyone seems to forget that ECW started out as Eastern Championship Wrestling and was a traditional wrestling company. It's not even mentioned here.

I give it an 8 because it's an amateuristic (in a good way) production made by fans and it's as good as it can be given all those elements involved.
