Just wow....

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what else to say.... I wasn't expecting such an episode. I'm literally lost for words. I never thought I'd see THIS X-Men ever again, and when the news broke X-Men 97 would be returning, I didn't expect it to be this good.

The previous episode might have been a filler, but I now understand why it was now.

I don't know what to expect for the rest of the season and that's incredibly exciting, and also terrifying in the best possible way.

I'm shocked, excited, and incredibly sad right now...and knowing I'm going to have to wait another week is brutal.

Gambit is my favourite X-Man, so I'm still trying to process what happened and how I feel about it...but one thing I can say without a doubt is...I'll remember it.

Best Marvel Cartoon Episode I've Ever Seen
Daberglar1010 April 2024
The episode fools you with the love triangle and uber happy vibes and then (trying not to spoil it) brings on the most impressive ten minutes I've ever seen in a superhero cartoon. A great message came out of Gambit and Rogue's conversation. Never seen Gambit like this and it was incredibly impressive. Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Magneto are now more multi-faceted than they've ever been. In the original X-men cartoon Wolverine was far and away the most fleshed out. With the new show, I am not so sure anymore. The other characters are now very strong and more than capable of carrying an episode. And carrying it well.

Do yourself a favor and watch this episode without any distractions.

It surely will be remembered
bjrosolem10 April 2024
Perhaps the most historical x-men animated series episode, this one has all. All that lacked at the old itineration and all the new stuff around lately is right inside the core of this episode.

It has granted the emmy for best animated series for them.

I can bet as big as gambit for this one.

Simply marvelous, dramatic, cruel, brutal and yet light hearted. This is an incredible and definite shot to more mature audiences.

There's more than simple symbolism in this one.

I am astonished this moment for how far they got here, deepening relations, showing expected (or not so expected) moments, there's mystery, brutality, almost impossible fights and unexpected heroic moments.

Outstanding script and very much inspired.

It is certainly their best ep yet.

Extraordinary from start to thrilling finish 💥
leiopicus10 April 2024
Just wow. This is unquestionably the standout episode of the season. I've enjoyed this series thus far, but "Remember It" was next level. I was speechless by the time the credits rolled.

If the animated series is going to be this good, I don't even mind if Marvel Studios doesn't give us live-action versions. But whenever they do, this is what MCU X-Men stories need to strive for.

In 30 minutes they were able to include super-meaningful story beats for Jean, Cyclops, Wolverine, Madelyne, Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit *plus* the return of Nightcrawler, Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw, an enigmatic Cable cameo, along with a feast of easter eggs and subtle references for readers of the comics (Krakoan Age & Hellfire Gala vibes, kinda? IFYKYK. 😄)

I had to check if this episode had a longer runtime than the previous ones this season because it felt like there were so many key things that we saw here. The pacing was excellent. Not a single wasted moment, imo.

In terms of the overall story it was always reasonable to expect that some sort of major world-shaking crisis would threaten Genosha and just before it joined the UN, We certainly got that here, and it did not disappoint. What was unexpected and what made this episode truly great, though, was how incredibly good the build-up to that crisis was.

This episode foregrounded all of the emotional tensions between Jean and Scott and between Rogue, Magneto, and Gambit that had gradually been building up this season--in parallel with Magneto's main arc of fulfilling Professor X's dream in the face of every looming challenge.

So basically, in "Remember It", the writers were like, "sure, let's bet the farm: let's put the major high-emotional-stakes arcs of the show in the spotlight...all at once."

Pushing those individual character dynamics to their crisis points while introducing big existential threats is risky because it's asking the audience to care about so much at the same time.

Everything needs to balance and all the characters' stakes need to relate for it to work.

If it does, the audience gets an giant-sized experience that they really care about. If not, the audience is left scratching their heads, feeling like the show was trying to do too much all at once.

It definitely a bet the show could have lost if they didn't get the storytelling right. Thankfully, this really does feel like they managed to pull it off.

This was one heck of an episode, and probably will go down as one of the all-time best in this series.

Previously On X-Men
ruanstb10 April 2024
Oh my God. The way I laughed, cried and gasped in shock in this episode! As a fan of the original 90's animated series, this episode delivered the goods way beyond my expectations! The soap opera drama between Rogue / Gambit / Magneto set with the backdrop of a devastating attack, really nailed the emotional impact. Can't believe I have to wait another week for this, just like in the old days! Last week's episode was one of the weaker ones but this really brought things home with some continuation on the Jean/Scott storyline and developing these characters. I'm so thankful to be alive to experience this revival!

Haven't felt like this since EndGame.
heydevon-672-11782210 April 2024
It was one of the most impressive cartoon episodes of any show I have ever seen. Not since EndGame did any piece of Marvel entertainment pull at your heart strings so intensely. Wow just wow! I am literally in a daze of amazement with how good this new show is. Incredible character development, great cinematography, it looks like the old show but is new and fresh and is updated.

I use to watch this show as a kid and wasn't sure if this was going to be any good, quite a few marvel productions haven't been very good as of late, yet this show keeps knocking it out of the park. If they do anymore live action X-Men films, these writers, directors and producers need to be involved for sure.

Top 5 Marvel content produced. Ever.
Shabrese11 April 2024
This is it. They've done it. They've brought back quality writing and production to Marvel. I could watch episodes of this caliber for years. Take my money. Just astonishing!

This episode gives a flood of emotions that rivals infinity war. I didn't think it was possible to reach that height again. I don't know if you need to be a fan to appreciate the depths of this episode, but if you are a fan, this will hit every emotion you would want in a well written piece of art. I watched it again and again and will never be the same when it comes to defining greatness. This is not hype, this is kudos to amazing writing and design. Top five Marvel content all time. Period.

WOW

Warning: Spoilers
I am utter shock with this episode. So many layers, such a small time to fit it in. The arcs each character is facing right now, chefs kiss! When I thought this show couldn't get better, I'm surprised again. The dance between Rogue and Magneto, Gambit being the star of this episode. As soon as Jean and Madelyn had the same feelings, chills all over my body. "I'm sorry mom," even more chills. "I can't feel you" had tears in my eyes. The first half of the episode sets up a crazy and intense second half. I have never once got this emotional watching a cartoon show. Words can't describe how great this episode was and I can't wait for next week. Do not listen to anyone who does not give this a 10/10. This show is absolutely amazing and I am so excited for next week!

I don't usually review things.. but WOW!
halloweenhall10 April 2024
Perfect episode. So dark, so unfair. So good! I bet everyone will remember it for years to come. Heartbreaking.

You'd think that the X-Men finally had some good news their way, but not this time. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but I think Gambit has one of the best moments ever displayed in this episode.

The group is split in two, part of it goes to Genosha, the rest stayed at the mansion. You have somewhat 2 parallel stories going on here. Lots and lots of cameos, and lots of great moments.

Can't wait to see what's next. Too bad we have to wait 1 week. Will definitely rewatch this.

OMG Best Xmen episode ever
raffaelmendez10 April 2024
Hard to explain the mix of feelings I have after watching this episode, I am super happy for the oportunity to see a masterpiece but also sad for all that happened. This is really what you expect after seen a great animated series, touch of you heart and mix of emotions. Similar feeling of when I used to watch Game of Thrones and what you used to expect for a season finale, the animation, the music, the plot and everything was top, 10 of 10 for sure, best of old series and new animation. Thanks MCU to give us the opportunity to enjoy Xmen in their full potential. I can't not wait for what's coming in next episodes!!!

Mind-blowing
droideka7510 April 2024
I'm not one to write reviews but this episode just left me speechless. Perfect in every sense, action, drama, animation is top notch. Story just made the time fly. This episode will be remembered as one of the best tv animation half hours. It's that good.

The juggling of the X-Men is superb not failing to include a moment with almost all of them. This kind of awesome writing reminded me of infinity war or endgame. So many characters and we feel close to every single one of them.

If anyone has any doubts that this revival would be as good as the original, rest assured, it is! Happy to see Marvel at it's best once more.

Am I the only one?
ross-fischer12 April 2024
Where is the thread to this series? Let alone this episode?! A strong finish, but how did we get here?! Maybe I'm not steeped enough in the lore or backstory but I have felt very behind in the series and even more so in this episode. There's been a disjointedness to it all that I've been willing to overlook because I do think the show is provocative but I'm struggling with it. I grew up with this show, yet I feel very left behind. And especially so WITHIN this episode. It just feels like there are so many jumps, like it's covering a dozen stories in 20 minutes and I'm left lost.

Maybe I'm the only one.

beskarwren10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"The names Gambit, mon ami... Remember it."

its hard to find the words to describe how perfect this was. The first half of the episode showed Genosha as a thriving nation where mutants are living happily and safely, just for the latter half of the episode to take a full 180 and show that all being changed in a matter of seconds was gut-wrenching.

Dr Cooper saying "Most other nations don't allow a terrorist to be their leader." with Magneto responding, "Yet so many allow their leaders to be terrorists." was probably the hardest hitting line I've ever seen in a show or movie, especially with how accurate it is to the real world.

I don't think any piece of media has made me violently sob as much as I did at the end of this episode. After finding the previous episode to be rather lacklustre, I was kind of worried about how the rest of the series was going to turn out, but this episode definitely changed my mind on that, and I'm hoping the rest of the season can consistently match the quality of this episode.

WTH lol! This was art!
caprceproductions10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
So many lines were written so perfectly in the first half of this episode and is the reason why it's a 10, ' so often we allow leaders to be terrorist' was such a great line from magneto along with Scott's interview showing how raw he's really feeling right now but pause... the way the episodes tone changed in the last 10 mins. It is the darkest time ever used in the X men animated series. I feel it was needed after the lighthearted action in the last episode. But just being able to feel maturity in the show and how it's still catering to its origininal watchers. This was real game of thrones I don't give a F who dies vibes! Incredible Easter eggs, which look to maybe tie the mcu universe with xmen, I'm excited for what's to come next.. wow!

Everything is trivial until tragedy strikes
thegreendrinker11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The rug pull this episode does is genius, because it reflects how warfare and destruction should feel- unexpected, impossible to fathom, and devastating.

The episode first embroils us in three impossibly messy and complex love triangles- Jean-Scott-Logan, Madelyn-Jean-Scott, and Rogue-Remy-Magneto. These love triangles are fun, but also represent sloppy and real human problems that cause people to struggle to find the right connections. Rogue craves physical touch which Magneto can provide, but Remy can be there more for her emotionally. Scott feels a connection to both Jean and Madelyn because they are, in some ways, the same person. These relatively mundane struggles are, compared to what happens later, a luxury similar to the brief, celebratory peace in Genosha. It is impossible to know what you have until it is gone.

The Wild Sentinel's massacre is something to behold. Mutants are vaporized with little ceremony or warning. The Sentinel chugs along without any hesitation, because it lacks all humanity altogether. How many times in reality have seen powerful governments wipe out certain marginalized groups with little feeling whatsoever? Sometimes evil is malicious but sometimes it's utterly apathetic. Despite the merciless extermination, Rogue, Gambit, and Magneto stubbornly reveal the best of humanness with their attempts at protecting others even at the risk of their own lives (in the case of Remy and Magneto, they paid for their heroism). That humanness is something that many non-mutants refuse to point-blank see.

Perhaps the real tragedy of the episode is that humans will never appreciate what they have enough. You can get caught up in your petty problems for a long time and then suddenly something momentous happens that makes all the petty stuff seem trivial...for a time. When Rogue cries and says "she can't feel Gambit", it is heartbreaking because she earlier excused her dalliance with Magneto on his ability to touch her without being hurt. But now none of that matters. We are perhaps doomed to not appreciate what we have because it would be tedious to not just allow yourself the luxury of caring about more trivial things. We can't prevent ourselves from feeling terrible pain when the time comes.

Finally something marvel got right
c-tappe10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
In recent years marvel has been lackluster at best. Growing up X-men the animated series was my favorite so hearing about this peaked my interest with marvel again. It so far has not disappointed. For the first time in a long time with marvel, I felt something watching this. The emotion and grit and epic fight scene was just perfect. I can only hope they nail it moving forward. Having Wolverine go ballistic over the death of a friend and tension with Scott and Jean. It's truly a crime to make fans wait another week after what I just watched. Sitting here in awe. Even confirmed my email to write this!!! Lol.

Game of Thrones meets X-Men
Camerenth11 April 2024
Just an absolute banger of an episode.

The drama of the show was dialed up to 100. Relationships. Choices. Emotion. Heartbreak. All of it culminates in a tragedy that hasn't been felt in TV since Game of thrones.

This show is way better than any of us deserve and deserves to already be worthy of any awards it may receive in awards seasons.

Please get people to watch this show.

This episode anchored the show as some of the best television we have gotten in the last few years.

To think this show may go further and bolder makes we want to stick with it forever. Please tell more people about this.

I... Can't feel you!
and_mikkelsen13 April 2024
WOW... JUST WOW! How did this happen? Why is this some of THE BEST Marvel content i have ever seen? Why was 30min of an animated superhero show better than most live-action superhero content? I don't know.. but it is!

This was the definition of an emotional rollercoaster as I could feel everything all in the span of minuttes! I was not prepared for this, and I want recover just now!

Out of nowhere the atmosphere changes, like a sudden explosion of despair! Everything is just great.. until it isn't! The animation was next level and honestly cinematic! If this was just episode 5, I am honestly scared of what might happen from this point on! I am not ready for this show to crush my soul!

This was PEAK animated superhero cartoon, PEAK X-men and PEAK Marvel!

Masterpiece
cxnctpgtp10 April 2024
All reviews posted so far are accurate in the description of this episode. This is in my view the absolute peak of animated episodic content ever developed - unbelievably powerfully scripted and delivered. The ending is so shocking, and ultimately beautifully put together. Amazing work by all involved, especially Lenore Zenn, Matthew Waterson and A. J. LoCascio as such masterful voice actors. As a fan of the original series I was looking forward to this season immensely, and it has surpassed all my expectations in ways I wouldn't have thought possible. Thanks to all involved and I can't wait to see what follows in the rest of the season.

I've lived Marvel for 42 years and this was top 10, if not higher, easily.
benjaminhehir11 April 2024
I don't know what more to say than I wish I could give it an 11. It builds you up and then drops you like a psychopath at a cliffs edge in the best way possible. I'm almost positive that I know who the main antagonist is, as it could follow a very good storyline. Genosha essentially standing in for Krakoa as this is a very modern story, I think they did it extremely well for those who don't regularly read the books. To see the love triangle go absolutely beast mode was a genuine pleasure, and man, they did NOT disappoint.

All I can say is thanks too everyone involved, you created a piece of art. Emmy noms all day.

Warning: Spoilers
A rollercoaster of emotions !

I have to say, I think this season is probably better than those seasons back in the 90s.

The animation is obviously much better, which is what you'd expect. But the story writing and script, are also amazing!

I've enjoyed all the episodes so far, but this one took me through so many different emotions. I sat there after watching it feeling quite down but at the same time recognising that it was a masterpiece. I had no idea what was coming before I started watching it

I'm really looking forward to see where the story goes, and I can't wait till next Wednesday.

"Some things are deeper than skin"
greenmangreat14 April 2024
I was already deeply impressed with the way the show handled the complicated love triangle relationships of Cyclops-Madelyn-Jean-Wolverine, and Gambit-Rogue-Magneto, to the point where I could actually feel the ache shown by Wolverine and Gambit in their scenes.

Then the episode throws us a emotional heavy curveball that blew me away. Powerful, emotionally charged scene, one after another. This episode is reminiscent of Avengers: Infinity War, but it does what that movie could not do for me: capture the raw emotion and high stakes.

I'm so glad X-Men 97 isn't just a capitalisation on nostalgia, but actually an incredibly well written series.

Side note though: This episode makes it clear that this series isn't quite meant for the kids!

First review ever
vinisilvaferreira12 April 2024
I had to log in here just to say how much this episode affected me. An episode full of emotions, fights, romances. It left me angry, happy, disgusted, sad and ultimately heartbroken.

I still haven't been able to digest this episode and it's already late at night and I need to sleep. (and I just can't, still feeling it all)

I guess I have to write more 237 characters to submit this comment. Ok.

I just loved this show. I never read. I've never read a single Xmen comic, I've always been a fan of the films but that doesn't matter because art was made here, anyone will love watching this series.

Brilliant brilliant and brilliant. Such a moving episode. I almost knew what could come during the episode and I still couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor. The writers should receive all the praise and shows what can be done with "childrens" animation shows. It shows that the people who took the time and effort to make this episode what it is, are those kids that grew up reading and watching these comics.

My favourite characters from my childhood did exactly what I would expect them to do from paper to screen. This is just throw this show to another level that I never expected to see and long may it continue.
