Not a whole lot going on here actually...

While "The Dempsey Sisters" from 2013 wasn't a bad movie, I sort of feel like I wasn't exactly part of the target audience. Sure, the movie was entertaining enough for what it turned out to be, but the storyline just never really reached out to connect with me.

The storyline, as written by Siddeeqah Powell is about the closeness of family, the bonds of siblings, following ones dreams and having to make sacrifices in order to achieve something. Sure, these were interesting aspects to a storyline, but the movie just sort of fell short of properly managing to entertain me. I did sit through the entire movie, but was only mildly entertained. As such, then I am left with a feeling of this being a very mundane and mediocre movie.

It should be said that the cast in "The Dempsey Sisters" was definitely good, and they had managed to put together a very interesting and talented ensemble of actresses and actors for this movie.

I am sure that there is a large fan base out there for a movie of this caliber. It just didn't really appeal to me much. And as such, my rating of "The Dempsey Sisters" lands on a very mediocre five out of ten stars. And I am sure that director Roger Melvin's 2013 movie will bring lots of entertainment to the right audience, because this wasn't exactly a boring or horrible movie.

The Worst Movie I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.
Account-A1134 May 2018
The Dempsey Sisters is the most despicable thing I have ever seen in my life. I came across this film by accident and got bored at less than the 20 minute mark. Plus, the only other review of this film on IMDB is by the creator of the show, Siddeeqah Powell, who obviously faked his review and called it "a wonderful movie". Tell him to shut the frick up, cause this is the worst film I have ever seen. There is no plot, the whole movie is just 3 women talking about random boring topics, like... bills. Their brother's wife. Music. YAWN. Just watch the first 10 minutes of this film, and you'll hate this as much as I do. Avoid this crap at all costs. The Garbage Pail Kids movie is a classic compared to this abomination. I HATE THIS MOVIE MORE THAN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING!

When one door closes, another one opens

Look at the movie just as you would any lifetime movie, don't expect stellar acting but the story is about revisiting what makes you happy and family dynamics with siblings that are very different. I mainly watched because Lynn Whitfield was in it and her character had a nice twist to it at the end. MC Lyte basically plays an extention of the character from Half & half when it comes to recording artists. I do think the dad's character could have used a different actor maybe older because he could have passed for an older brother. Long story short it's an okay movie and was a decent watch on a Sunday afternoon.

I have no words

What in the world did I just watch??? I'm pretty laid back about movies, even cheesy movies, but this one was so boring it made me too tired to turn it off. I'm not quite sure how it made it this far. As bad as it was, I endured it, waiting for it to get better and it just never did. It wasn't that the acting was bad, bless their hearts, well except for the group singing for the Aunt, that was pretty bad, but it was just one of the slowest moving story lines that I have ever seen in my life. It was more like an outline of a storyline with zero substance. An empty shell. My review is more entertaining than the movie.

The Dempsey Sisters Great Movie with an Amazing Cast
georgiatech199718 January 2014
The Dempsey Sisters was a wonderful movie, with a GREAT CAST. I wanted to hear the sisters sing more, they were great, you actually felt that they were really sisters. I know we can all relate to this movie, it reminds us it takes courage, conviction and a lot of faith to follow your dream. It also shows us the power of family, love and respect for each other, with that we can accomplish anything. This movie also let us know, that sometimes you have to give up something to get something greater. Keep up the great work Sid, we love your writing and are looking forward to the next big thing. Swirl keep the movies coming, can't wait to see what you have in store for 2014, you make a great team.
