A delightful surprise

With limited dialog writer/director Julien Grincajgier lets his talented actors tell the beautiful story of an old soldier who visits the grave of a fallen comrade.

Through flashback we see the story unfold of this unlikely friendship that was forged on the battlefield and continued on into later years.

The score is a bit loud at times but very well chosen. The photography is top notch.

Bottom line: It's a very touching story that I'd recommend to anyone.

Pretty solid short about friendship in times of war

Warning: Spoilers
"Remembering the Fallen" is a French short film from 2014, so it is almost 5 years old now, and here on imdb it says language is English, but spoken language is almost non-existent. It is the first filmmaking effort by writer, director and producer Julien Grincajgier and this film is about an old man who thinks back to his younger days when he was a soldier in the war and the fateful encounter he had with an enemy soldier during these days that still has an impact on him now that he is an old man. I think it was a good watch overall, some decent heart in it and I am generally not even too big on war-themed films. Perhaps I liked this one because of the emotions going with it and because war is just a side aspect that goes with the story of a friendship between two men. It is nicely atmospheric and the music is pretty good too and like I said, the fact that nobody's talking does not take away from the quality, but makes it a good watch for everybody regardless of which languages you (don't). So overall, I give this film a thumbs-up and I recommend checking it out, some really beautiful images included here too.

a leaf

Warning: Spoilers
for me, one of the most touching short films. a films about friendship. enemies in war, both wounded. and small gestures, no words. and the hand to help. memories of an old sir. the gestures of young men. one of the great virtues of film - the beautiful cinematography. the light, the skirt colors. the hands covered by blood and mud. and, sure, the leaf in the wind.

after its end - the emotion. the deep emotion covering all. because, out to be original, it is a great film. simple, honest, inspired. and this is the most important virtue.
