"Our Blood" (2014 release; 26 min.) brings the story of a brother working on a bison farm somewhere in the plains. One day his sister Jane visits him, we see her approaching him as she is walking in the rain. "You've been walking all the way from the bus stop?" he wonders. (And we wonder too.) What becomes clear very soon is that the brother is very attracted to Jane. Meanwhile Jane tries to convince her brother to take an interest in their dad, and she even attempts to show him a picture of dad, but in vain. Will Jane give in to her brother's advances? What is up with the dad? To tell you more would spoil the plot.
A few comments: I recently saw this movie as it is the bonus "shortie" on Film Movement's DVD-of-the-Month Club release this month. Let me state that I generally LOVE indie movies (reason that I am a subscriber to the Film Movement's library of foreign and indie movies), but sorry, I could not get into "Our Blood" AT ALL. Yes, I did watch it until the end (I mean, it lasts only 25 min.), but when the end came, I was more than ready to walk away from the movie. I just did not understand why certain things were happening, or not happening, in the movie. As a further aside, the DVD box states that "a brother and a sister meet for the first time". Just to be clear: there is not a single clue in the movie that this is the case, and nothing from the way these two are acting would indicate this to be the case. So if you haven't by chance read the DVD box before seeing this, you will watch it without this critical piece of information...
