THE LONE ROAD is a LOT better than I was expecting considering its origins as a shot-on-digital-video thriller. It's a film with a proper plot, for starters, and a good depiction of a small town conspiracy with action and thriller elements. The tale is about an innocent woman who accidentally witnesses a murder at her motel and who subsequently finds herself on the run from those involved.
This film features well delineated characters and attractive cast members giving performances which are a bit better than normal. It's not an exploitation movie although there's ample nudity throughout. The special effects betray the film's low budget origins and occasionally the supporting cast give rubbish performances. But otherwise this is fairly suspenseful and involving to boot, making it feel fresh and energetic at times.
