Haddonfield's Horrors: The Visual Design of Halloween 6 (2013)

*** (out of 4)

The troubled production history of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS got several featurettes on the Anchor Bay/Shout Factory Blu-ray release and this one here features interviews with director of photography Billy Dickson, production designer Bryan Ryman and Thomas Calloway who was the director of photography on the re-shoots. Overall this here is another entertaining featurette as we get to hear from people doing the same job but on different versions of the film. Dickson talks about the original intent of the film and when he became aware of the production issues. He then talks about his displeasure of what was eventually released to theaters and even apologizes for it. Ryman mainly talks about the visual look he wanted to give the film and what role he played in trying to build up a Halloween look. Calloway was brought on during the re-shoots and talks about some of the special effects work that was done to deliver a gorier picture. Again, fans of the film will no doubt enjoy hearing these stories.
