Ariella Ferrera leads a fine cast in MOTHER DAUGHTER AFFAIR, a well-acted romantic rivalry drama from Canada's Sweet Sinner porn label. I enjoyed this one more than many lookalike titles in the genre.
Plot of James Avalon's 2-day wonder is simple: Ferrera is the handsome divorcée raising her cute teen Jodi Taylor, and still a business partner with her ex of 7 years, Steven St. Croix. Ariella's steady boyfriend Marcus London (a Brit who can act as well as hump) is naturally attracted to the young beauty with a winning smile, so faster than you can say Lolita all hell breaks loose.
In a commanding performance (though a tortured crying scene proves a bit beyond her range) Ferrera is also mightily annoyed by ex-hubby planning to marry young Chanel Preston, barely older than her daughter. Her jealously leads to grief and a surprise ending in which London says to hell with all of them and splits.
But not before he romps in the sack with both generations of the family, basically the video's raison d'etre. Shooting in HDV, Avalon delivers a fine cinematic look, and there's no reason this show couldn't play as a movie. The label's style means overlong (30 minutes a pop) sex scenes, but they're shot in a non-intrusive manner so that a soft-core edition of feature length could be extracted.
Another treat for the fans is the surprise appearance of the great Veronica Hart (using her billing Jane Hamilton) as Ferrera's business assistant, as well as doubling as production manager on the video. In a non-sex role (that is even included in her end credits' billing) she has become an Eileen Atkins style character actress -maybe Woody Allen will sign her up.
I'm starting to get hooked on the "real lovemaking, real orgasms" approach of this Canadian outfit - not all their videos result in this level of quality but they all have a laudable balance of engrossing story line and uninterrupted sex action (with the latter dominating of course, given today's audience's predilection for sex, sex and more sex).
Avalon already has a series for Sweet Sinner capitalizing on the popularity of 50 SHADES OF GREY, entitled SHADES OF KINK, but I haven't sampled any of those s&m titles as yet.
