Your average ho hum run of the mill TV Movie.
katiespitfire7 September 2016
I never expect too much from these made for TV movies. At best they're like internet fan fiction so I knew what to expect. The male lead is pretty good, the female lead isn't. Clarissa's parents are really cute but the rest of the supporting cast (with one or two exceptions) look like they were randomly selected off the street. If you're looking for the TV equivalent of 'Kalms' this is it.

It's bland, sweet fayre and won't win any awards but then it doesn't claim to either. Incidentally, the soundtrack is bloody awful, truly bad and spoils the decent moments of the film. One for a rainy afternoon with a big box of chocolates.

exactly what you'd expect from a cheap Hallmark Rom-Com
ivantheeditor18 August 2018
I think people are expecting too much from movies these days. We're all too spoiled with these multimillion-dollar films. This was clearly an ultra low budget movie. They didn't have a big production and they also didn't have a very interesting plotline. The movie was super poorly written and horribly directed. It was exactly what you would expect from your average film school grad student which is exactly what a movie with a low budget can afford. want great acting and awesome cinematography? then don't watch cheap hallmark tv movies! duh. And yes, as everyone has already said it - the acting was just stupid. But when you have such basic production, terrible script, and boring storyline even the big hollywood stars won't be able to do much with it. i watched this just because i am a filmmaker and i was curious to see some low budget movies and i have to say - i feel like they did what they could with what they had.

Don't Blame Hallmark
FridayGal19 September 2020
The studio producing this film was MarVista not Hallmark. It's on the poster of the movie with the two actors. Hallmark has its share of weak movies but let's not blame it for the movies it doesn't make.

Horrible acting/directing
smithduke22 February 2017
I typically love this kind of movies, and I'm usually generous with my ratings compared to others reviewers, but this was terrible due to the acting/directing.

In all fairness, Brant Daugherty was believable and natural. Lexi Giovagnoli, who played Clarissa, was dull, stiff, and had no personality. Nthenya Ndunda playing her friend Veronica was barely understandable, and she just jumped around and giggled.

It was laughable when the main characters would walk into a room, and everyone just stared or looked at each other without saying a word.

I kept thinking to myself that this is not up to Hallmark's standard and checked IMDb for the company credits. This movie was not produced by Hallmark, and it showed. Yes, I know many think Hallmark movies are overly cheesy, but I love them.

Familiar concept satisfactorily done
phd_travel27 November 2016
She is a struggling actress waitress who feels a failure. He is a star hoping to get a cover for an affair with a married woman. Through a series of pretty well played out misunderstandings they pretend to be engaged, but of course you can guess what happens - they develop real feelings. There have been other romance movies where fake romances turn real but this one is alright.

The actress is played by Lexi Giovagnoli. She is cute in a Kaley Cuoco way although not very beautiful she has a likability. Brant Daugherty of Pretty Little Liars is the heartthrob. He is quite suited to the role and is getting to be a more convincing actor especially when not grinning too widely.

There have been worse Hallmark romances than this one.

Cute, predictable movie
jadediamond30 September 2019
It's a cute, predictable movie about a down on her luck aspiring actress pretending that a Hollywood star actor is her boyfriend to impress her friends from high school at her best friend's wedding. The Hollywood star finds out about it and goes along with the lie since he has to cover up for a simplistic problem he's in and you already knows how the movie ends. The two leads are pretty good actors in a very simplistic plot with no stakes and manufactured drama resolved within minutes of occurring. There is no real conflict in this movie. However, the cast was good and they did the best with the small budget they were given. This movie is very generic but if you want to waste an hour and a half on a movie, it's a good movie to simply watch to waste the time.

I came across the trailer for this movie on Netflix and decided to check it out. By the time i rented it (which was 5 freaking dollars) the edible kicked in. I honestly felt like i was reading a vivid FanFiction written by a twelve year old

OK movie for a nothing night. Better yet, take a wager with your friends as to what the next line of dialogue will be!
poutypam24 April 2017
I think the lead male is Matthew Bomer in a few years. He will make the perfect Hallmark Male for a lifetime of sappy romantic movies. (And I mean that with all respect)

Some of the acting is solidly ACTING. It makes me feel like the director must have been holding an acting class and said, "For extra credit, I want you all to come and be in my movie!".

(Is that wrong?). 😁

TERRIBLE TACKY wardrobe
staceyamd30 March 2020
The story was fine. Actors fine. Too bad all the females looked like they were being strangled by giant necklaces. Worst costuming I've ever seen for one of these made for TV romances. The huge clunky home party jewelry paired with ill fitting tacky clothes was massively distracting. Young women in their early 20s do not dress like 45 year divorcees on a cruise. I don't care about high fashion or trendy clothing at all so for me to notice how incredibly bad it was is saying something. It would have looked better if the costumer got everything at Target.

Not great ,but it does have one distinguishing feature.
mw-016327 June 2018
This movie is alright. The plot is formulaic, and some of the supporting actors aren't very good. In fact the leads aren't that good either. That being said, they aren't horrible either. A little stiff perhaps, but by no means terrible. That too being said, the one great feature in this movie is the clear chemistry between the the leads, which manages to come across without being overly overt or cheesy. I'd rate this 5 stars without that chemistry. With it, 6 1/2.

No good.
shellyboback19 June 2016
We purchased this movie with a 7.4 rating but realized after we watched the first 10 minutes that only 10 people had rated it. The movie, supposedly a comedy, only made us laugh because it was so incredibly slow, had awful background music (that sounded like it may turn into a porn at any moment), and had young actors that need some serious training. There really isn't enough to write ten lines about this movie. Please save your money and do something more interesting with your life! We feel sorry for the young actors that seemed to have little guidance in acting in this poorly prepped movie. Actors, please continue acting but go find other people for guidance!

Loved it
rhonnie-4313922 August 2021
Lots of haters here. I liked this movie. A lot. Both leads were great. The story was nice and relatable.

It's about dealing with disappointments, missed opportunities, dreams; acceptance. Well acted with a good cast.

Loved the music too. I will watch it again.

Good romantic comedy
theo-15-229127 June 2016
Not sure if that last reviewer was watching the same movie as me, but I really enjoyed it! The acting and direction were good and the background musical score was lovely and non intrusive. It was a very cute movie. Yes, it was a bit predictable and at times somewhat cheesy, but that's what you expect from a romantic comedy. I enjoyed it and would watch it again. I for one like the predictable, happy ending, boy gets girl, typical love story and I like a little cheesy too. Its just fun to escape from everyday life into these kind of movies. I am happy that they had pretty good actors and it was produced well and there wasn't cringe-worthy parts like in some that I've seen. Also, you can watch it with your kids and not have to worry. All around good movie. No, it's not a 10 out of 10, but definitely above average. I recommend it.

Weird
tamekaevansmarch30 August 2020
This movie could have been better. The writers really did a poor job. The lead male actor was ok. But everyone else acted so scripted it was really bad acting. The clothes that everyone had on was awful. They could have been better. The wedding dress was horrible. It looked cheap and like it was from the 80's. This movie overall just could have been better.

Plastic & Wooden Acting
graham_watkins29 March 2020
Another one of those films that I could only watch for 10 minutes. Think badly directed and acted made-for-TV movie and you'll already know what to expect. The acting was so painful I almost kept watching to see if it got any worse, because it definitely wasn't going to get any better. What more can I say other than don't waste your time and watch one of the million films out there that much, much better.

Male lead make me put up with this movie!!
becaangel23 March 2017
I gave 4 stars out of 10 just to the male lead.He was pretty good (and handsome) in his role, natural and convincing... Female lead,is not that she's not your average impossible pretty TV actress,is that she's not a good actress at all...She doesn't even tried to be a believable "Clarissa"...And clearly the male lead was too much of an actor and as a character for her poor portrayed of Clarissa. The rest of the cast? Awful!! Brant Daugherty deserves a better production,a better director and a way better female lead on his next romantic movie.

Accidentally Engaged for 5 minutes then We Dated
sscarito23 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Let's see. It's basically like every other romantic comedy movie. Except, it's a Hallmark movie. Oh boy. And don't even get me started on how it claims to be about Christmas.. meanwhile, there is nothing even related to the holidays in the movie?' Complete trash. From the moment this movie started, I had my doubts. From the first line, "I saw his abs," I knew we were going in a direction I was not on the ride for. With plain characters who act completely as Mary Sues, the movie was doomed to have little character development. Instead, they created a sort of Multiple Personality Disorder in all of their characters, making you wonder if each character had a secret twin. Because there could be no way that these characters could develop so easily and fast with little motivation to do so. By doing this, they made every scene unbelievable and the love between the two main characters cheesy and unsatisfactory. I found myself face-palming at the end and ranting to my two friends while sadly watching the movie end with little to no unique features or plot. Instead, the plot falls short, and we are left with just characters and a bunch of lines. This movie really disappointed me, and I regret watching it. I would of rather watched Mickey Mouse Christmas than whatever this turned out to be. Here's a couple small rants I'd also like to mention. - Why was the coffee real in the first scene? That made no sense. - Kelly. KELLY. You were made to hate her, you were forced. Then they tried to shove the tiniest bit of character development down your throat, and they slammed her with the cutest character: Graham. He didn't deserve this!! He didn't want her. He wanted that chick ( I forgot her name because the movie was so bad.) I found myself shipping him with one of my friends. - Why was the mom's hair gray and white? Did she dye it like that? Who wants to look like Cruella deVille? - Clarissa broke Graham's heart, and he still loved her. Then all of a sudden he's moved on to that chick Kelly? Why the heck did he like her? - Suzy. Suzy? What kind of name is that for a publicist for a famous actor? Lamest name ever, I couldn't even take it. - Why did he even love Suzy? It made no sense, he changed his mind last moment as well. They never even showed the breakup scene, which is a huge part of character development and the development of the love between the two main characters. - They changed Chas' personality halfway through. At the beginning, you found yourself asking: Gay or European? (And singing it, to be fair..) But later on, he was a handsome, charming, loving, and kind man who barely cared about his acting career and did not seem rich at all. The only mention of his wealth is when he bought plane tickets as the wedding gift, which any person could probably manage. This is SAD. SAD. They forced him into a very normal plain character, taking away all credibility of the plot line that he was famous and needed to keep up a cover. - So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend this movie. Maybe I would if you needed a night of laughing and shipping the male characters with your friends.

I'm out.

much more real than most tv movies
lorraineewan11 February 2018
Its refreshing to see a normal weight woman in a lead role. I am very mad at people saying she is not a good actress in this movie. She is completely genuine and her acting is impeccable in every part of the movie. People who say this are the ones who think she isn't a star because she isn't 'thin enough for holywood' sure she could play a best friend of a star in a movie but people are disturbed about her in a lead role . I really loved this movie and the lead actress stole the show. This was actually a movie i wished had been on the big screen for the world to see.

Worst. Hallmark. Movie. EVER!
khconsteng26 June 2019
What is this? I have never watched a Hallmark movie so poorly written. So poorly acted. So poorly directed. So poorly cast! Were they looking for the cheapest cast they could find? Even the wardrobe department sucks. The clothes and jewelry are pathetic.

Fourteen minutes on and I was already cringing at every word said in the movie. The female lead is not attractive not did she have any likable characteristics. The male leaf is the only actor that has any talent. The story line is laughable. Don't waste your time or your money.

Tried to give this movie a chance. Didn't like the lead actress. Loved the male lead. Storyline too silly and makebelieve. Don't waste your time on this movie.

Worst Editing
sbragg96514 August 2019
So many jumpy scenes. It is like they went to cut a scene and splice in something else and it was randomly choppy. Some very bad acting too.

Really bad acting.
megan_shirley20 August 2022
I love a cheesy romantic movie. The cheesier the better. But the acting has to be at least a little believable. There isn't a single scene without a cringe amount of bad acting in this film.

Casting was bad and could have been so much better! Great concept but bad actress Nthenya and main actress Lexi looked out of place and made you lose your focus on movie.

Fun film
Elizabeth-248823 May 2017
Lots of haters who have wrote reviews, but I disagree. This film is a cute film with a cute theme and I enjoyed it. The leads are both good and it does have a really cute concept for the story line. The other characters were good as well overall. It is about a girl who gets catch up in a small white lie which expands to a big lie. She is just a girl-next-store type of girl, which is awesome because we can not all be drop dead gorgeous! Fun to watch, even though it is not an Oscar winning film. I would rather watch a fun positive film than a depressing film, which critics seem to love.

Wow.
lauragehrig-0709418 August 2019
The only 2 people in this movie that have talent are Brant Daugherty (Chas) and Randy Wayne (Graham). They are the only ones with acting abilities! The rest of the acting is AWFUL. I really wish they would stop giving Lexi lead actress parts because her acting is terrible. I have yet to see one movie she was in that I didn't hate. I felt like I was watching a movie made my middle schoolers.
