The Horde and the Grand Canyon
claudio_carvalho11 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Citizen Z warns that a horde of zombies is heading toward the survivors and they seek shelter. Doc and 10K stay behind since there is no vehicle for the whole group while Warren and Vasquez and Murphy and Addy drive two ATVs seeking for help. They reach a casino resort in the middle of the desert and they are helped by Chief Firecloud and his tribe. Meanwhile, Doc and 10K are captured by Firecloud's estranged son that blames the white men for the zombie virus. Will the survivors succeed to escape from the zombies?

"We Were Nowhere Near the Grand Canyon" is an entertaining and funny episode. The trip of Doc is hilarious and Murphy is really becoming a living zombie. Citizen Z apparently has eliminated all the zombies that have broken in his facility. My vote is eight.

What a Long Strange Trips its Been, man. Zombie Burning Man.
DuskShadow26 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Feelings between Warren and Vazquez, which has been building for a couple episodes. Since the loss of her former lover, Warren has been getting that itch for the beast with two backs.

Reconnecting with the isolated Citizen Z, the gang is coming to close proximity to the unstoppable, miles long zombie storm and must make a decision.

With little time left before they run into the deadnado, all but Doc and 10k go off on quads and wind up seeking shelter in the local native American casino.

10k and Doc meanwhile are trying to scale a rock formation, when at the top they are accosted by the more zealous, youthful remnants of the casino owners people.

Enter western civilizations fascination with native mysticism and naturalism, sometimes misused, but here mostly used in tongue and cheek form by Doc. He is in essence the embodiment of the hippie generation , taking drugs off a "medicine woman" in this episode, although the woman says shes as much of "medicine" as "Doc" is an actual doctor.

At one point whilst being administered aid by the beautiful Kuruk ("medicine woman), Doc says " You have no idea what a looong strange trip its been" in answer to the question regarding fights Docs been in.

I added that quote in the data center for this episode because Long and Strange Trip is the second compilation album by the Grateful Dead, circa August 18, 1977.

This is significant because it implies Doc may have been a hippie in the 1970's, also implicated by Doc's constant references to and use of drugs, as well as having been to Humboldt, California years back. More interesting the shows creators might very well be Grateful Dead fans as well. This is truly the best use of referential humor because the entire show is about zombies, and the most UNgrateful dead person this side of Beetlejuice: Murphy, the lousy half Zomb. It all ends with the zombies incoming in the desert to drums, fire, and dubstep. Its ten million Zombie Burning Man! Off a cliff like lemmings. Salud!

Grand Canyon

Our heroes are still mission focused. Unfortunately, that big open sewer known as the Grand Canyon and another zombie horde force a change of plans. They end up trespassing on an Indian reservation thereby jumping into confrontation yet again. There is some "white hate" but it serves to add drama so I won't use our rule of thumb rating which is: racism and/ or lies equals a one star rating.

The final long shots are funny.

This Episode begins with Warren and Vasquez, they shoot a large group of zombies to death. Addy is trying to reach Citizen Z, who is still at the Northern Light. Addy needs cordinates from Citizen Z. Our Heroes split up, because of a massive zombie horde. Warren, Murphy, Addy and Vasquez ended up at Danny his headquarters. Doc and 10K got captured on holy ground by a Native group. Doc and 10K got reunited with Warren, Addy, Murphy and Vasquez. The casino has been destroyed by a big horde of zombies. Nice Episode of Z Nation Season 2, a lot of action during this Episode. But i am still waiting for a longer storyline!
