Very good, though not a favorite!

Warning: Spoilers
The sixth season of "Death in Paradise" has been pretty decent with "Erupting in Murder", "The Secret of the Flamme Tree" being fine, "The Impossible Murder" okay at best and "Stumped in Murder" good enough. "Man Overboard: Part 1" is on the other hand easily the best of the season so far. It's not one of my favorite "Death in Paradise" episodes, but is still very good.

Let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. The direction is gorgeous with amazing areal shots. The music fits the scenery as well, creating an exciting feeling when necessary. The acting's good too. Kris Marshall gives his best performance as Goodman. There is not a single signs of stupidity on his part, which is nice.

. The mystery is very compelling with interesting characters, red herrings and some very welcome twists. The fact the Dwayne, Florence and Goodman go to London to investigate the murder was an awesome idea! The subplot (SPOILER) about Dwayne meeting up with his father made me think what's going to come from that.

But....

. The humor does not land most of the time with some jokes being cringe-worthy.

Overall, a very good episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Tom Lewis (John Marquez) and his partner Sophie Boyd are spending their last night together, on Saint Mary in Katherine's Bar.

He left her promising to return in 10 minutes, but when she can't contact him on his phone she worried for his safety.

She bumps into DI Goodman, who promised to investigate into his whereabouts.

Tragically when the police team search Tom Lewis's yacht, they discovered his dead body. In circumstances that lead them to conclude, that his death was anything but an accident.

They discovered a small metal button with a flower logo which is assumed to be a red herring. Until with further examination the logo turned out, to be the same emblem of a financial institution City Met Bank.

The Team discovered that Tom Lewis had made arrangements, to meet a group of London based businessmen on the island.

But when they went to the mens hotel they found out that they had already booked out, and were on on their way back to London.

DI Goodman is informed that because the businessmen were no longer on the island, the case had been handed over to the Met Police (Metropolitan Police) in London.

However the Police Commissioner intervened and secured official dispensation, for a number of Saint Mary's police to travel to England.

DI Goodman, DS Cassell and PO Myers travelling abroad, and PO Hooper ably assisted by the Police Commissioner held the Fort at home.

The arrangements were to liase with the Met Police on arrival in London, but in reality it turned out to be just one officer DI Jack Mooney.

The metal 'button' discovered in Tom Lewis yacht turned out to be half of a set of cufflinks. All of the four businessmen had a pair each.

One of the four Frank Henderson (Julian Wadham) is subsequently found dead in his office, with a revolver next to him on the desk.

Dwayne decided to look up a long lost relative while in London, but he didn't exactly get the warmest of greetings.

The Police Team are now supposed to have Work Appraisals and as DI Goodman, hadn't had the chance to do DC Hooper's the Commissioner decided to do it himself.

Goodman

Warning: Spoilers
This is the penultimate episode of DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall, who I first saw in Love Actually) and we are also introduced to his replacement DI Jack Mooney (Irish actor Ardal O'Hanlon) in a kind of a cross-over. Marshall and his family embraced life on the island where Death in Paradise was filmed, but thankfully he managed to continue in Beyond Paradise a few years later. One difference is that a Death in Paradise season typically has eight episodes, whereas Beyond Paradise has six. Anyway, here there's a man overboard, and Goodman has to resolve it quick fast, as this is his penultimate episode sadly.

Series in decline again
graeme-862202 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Here we go then setting up the series for its next handover of top police role to an even less competent UK officer. How do we achieve that? Send 3/4 of the island's police force to London!

When Humphrey went to the island he was more of a knockabout than his predecessor and now we're expected to accept that they can turn it into the island of Father Ted.

Pretty obvious how the killer got off the boat without waiting 40 minutes for the Sherlock Holmes statement to be quoted, albeit with variation.

Pretty scenery aside, this series is heading downhill rapidly and is now not even the gentle time passer we've come to accept.
