Enjoyable

Oscar winning song from the delightful "White Nights", the music was a strong and unforgettable of the 1980's, quite dated now but always a pleasure to hear, or in this case to see the clip with Lionel performing the song while scenes from Taylor Hackford's film appears in between RIchie's act.

Another case of a music video selling the song/soundtrack and it works the treat since it was a hit, got heavy airplay even today, and it was one of the most award winning songs of its year. So, here we have the memorable sequences of Hines and Baryshnikov dancing while Lionel sings and dances a little to the sound of his dramatic song. It works. 9/10

an anthem

After decades, I see it as an anthem of a lost age. No doubts, the scenes from White Nights are important for that , like the beautiful voice of Lionel Richie or lyrics but the result is a special state about friendship, love and freedom, about certitudes crafted in honest way, out of apparences and out of lies.

Indeed, hearing it in Ceausecu s Romania, the taste of that grey years remains fresh. But it is more than a beautiful song ; it is a wise kick to real hope and, maybe, to faith in simple, efficient, gentle , precise manner.

Out of memories, out of fascination front to story developed by Rosselini, Barishnikov and Hines, a certitude as so useful , precious refuge.
