Very Meta Comedy
lucasd903 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This film is about the making of a film and doesn't really seem to take itself seriously. It pokes fun at society, at itself, and just about anything it can. I did not understand all the jokes, as quite a few of them are geared specifically towards the film industry. I feel as though I would've enjoyed it more if I were a filmmaker or a part of that world, but I still found myself laughing regularly throughout the film.

Jacob Lewis (played by Alex Dona) annoyed me at times as he was exceptionally rude particularly to Lucy Crew (Rose Marel) and The Extra (Tim Love), but I did understand that was the point of the character. I was glad when everyone turned on him as he had it coming. The ending to the film was funny, but also rather sudden and unexpected. It felt a little short.

Overall I give it a 5.5/10.

Too Long for the Premise

This movie reminds me of the funny SNL skits that are made into full length movies and aren't funny. While there are some clever parts to this movie, it is way too long and the gags repeat over and over. It just isn't effective as a full length spoof.

Inaccurate

This behind the scenes documentary does not truly represent my genius or my artistic integrity. In fact, many of the things shown here are taken out of context and not presenting the whole picture. It showed me touching Sophie Anderson "inappropriately", but failed to show her saying she believes I am an incredible director who will forever change the landscape of film. It shows Lucy Crew upset and arguing with me, but fails to show her apologising profusely soon afterwards for daring to raise her voice at me. The issue with being a bona fide genius, is that people sometimes fail to recognise it. Sometimes the only person who knows how great you are...is yourself. Watch out for Claire Wizard in 2022. A gratuitous sequel which will demonstrate my artistry in its finest form. It will be a horror film for the ages and this time I will not be copying The Blair Witch Project in its entirety, as the time has come for me to move on and create something new. Instead I will be copying the recently released Blair Witch. #jacoblewisfilmgeniusofourtime

Haven't laughed that much in a while! Probably have watched it way too many times now. The casting is SPOT ON and makes for hilarious performances by all.

This is Not a Film
wolfqueen20204 October 2022
I cannot even express my displeasure enough. This was literally an hour and 15 minutes of the worst characters I've ever seen on a screen in my life joking around and yelling at eachother. Literally nothing happens. I'm so angry I sat through this. Literally nothing happens. If you still watch it, it's your own fault. It's one thing to make satire but this had no plot, no story, no actual real dialogue. I cant believe tubing would even air this. I've seen complete dumpster fires that far surpassed whatever this was. At least those people tried. This was astonishingly bad. It doesn't even fit into a genre.

Hilarious spoof hitting all the right notes
layalnaji9 July 2018
The Claire Wizard Thesis is a hilarious satire that goes beyond a scary movie spoof and pokes the right amount of fun at socio-cultural values so that if you're in the mood to tune out, it's still a funny, easy view (with eye candy to suit everyone), but if you're in the mood for reflection, there are plenty of wake up calls for what we passively absorb from our society. Issa finds a way to make all the characters endearing even amidst their obvious flaws.

Satire at it's finest

I went into this not knowing what to expect, and finished it pleasantly surprised. It' the first comedy I've seen so far this year that actually made me laugh out loud. The ridiculous characters in the film are all fleshed out and well cast. There were a few issues with pacing I noticed, and a period in the middle of the film where the laughs dried up a little but aside from that, this mockumentary is definitely worth a watch for fans of the genre. The "ending credits" were a personal favourite.
