Not all heroes wear capes.

Only criminals and those who wish to commit crimes are the types of people who would be against S. T. R. E. S. S. Units.

These officers risked their lives on a daily basis to instill fear in those who chose to do harm to the law abiding citizens. Criminal elements never rest. We live in a terrifying world. Injecting these officers into real life scenarios was a brilliant plan.

These officers should be applauded. I'm happy this documentary gives them the credit and recognition they earned and deserve. To all the officers who put their lives on the line to make mine safer, I thank you for your service.

The city would be a safer place if these units were allowed to continue operating.

Excellent Review Of Why Detroit Is The Way It Is Today

Everyone needs to see this! I grew up in Detroit and always wondered why the city was so darn violent and messed up. Well, this documentary told the story of the turning point in history where Detroit was lost. I'd heard of S. T. R. E. S. S., but I didn't know how successful it was, or that it played a role in my city being handed over to Coleman Young.

All Detroiters and anyone who is curious about the history of the city should watch this documentary. This thing should have been huge when it came out, but I only faintly remember hearing anything about it. It's also crazy that I could only find it on the creator's website. This is such an important story. If you want to know where most of the major cities in the U. S. are headed if they continue their "social justice" and "police reform" stuff, take a look at Detroit.

Hard to watch, but important

This film is about a police department that puts out a decoy unit on the streets to fight crime. It is an interesting idea, but putting this them in the black neighborhoods caused a lot of issues. I understand that the crime was in the black neighborhoods, but the officers were white and the city was so racial. It was bound to cause problems and it did. The number of fatal shootings were horrible, but then this film lets you see from the police officer's point of view. You begin to understand how explosive it becomes when you see what the officers went through when their friends and fellow officers were killed, injured, and in some cases targeted. This is an important film for everyone to watch to gain some perspective on policing.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Normally documentaries can be dry but Detroit under STRESS was such an attention keeper that I wished it was longer than it was! Terrific interviews from the cops and gave a glimpse into a program that was groundbreaking in the 70's and couldn't even be mentioned today due to the racial implications. Unfortunately part of the issues police face was due to policies that removed community policing with more of a reactionary policing that is currently taking place. I highly recommend anyone that is interested in policing watch this movie and take a look at these grizzled cops that patrolled the dangerous streets of Detroit!

A riveting story!

Once I started watching this documentary, I couldn't stop. At times real life is hard to believe!

Some of the interviews are eye-popping. It's like a car wreck - you want to look away but you can't because the doc exposes amazing insights to the way that some police officers worked in Detroit in the early 70's.

I had never heard about the "S. T. R. E. S. S." unit before, which is kind of amazing because this is a fascinating piece of U. S. history and has so much relevance for us today. It's like BLM issues on steroids!

I appreciate that the documentary provides multiple points of view and then leaves the viewer to reflect on this very controversial (and in many ways really messed up) crime fighting unit. This is a must see doc!

Law & Order meets Civil Rights

Warning: Spoilers
David Van Wie's film daringly faces issues of race and trust in the police (or the lack thereof) in ways that get people talking. It is an important film because it highlights the police officers who enter the force with noble intentions to serve and protect the public, only to become hardened by years of service on the streets, their mental health suffering without a solution. The scene of Richard Worobec describing how his reputation as a "monster" and racist preceded him was heartbreaking, especially given the fact that Mr. Worobec is happily married to a woman of color. There could not be a more timely or relevant movie to watch and discuss.
