A bit sad to see Sia at this generic level

Warning: Spoilers
Here we have the 5.5-minute music video for "Dusk Till Dawn" from 2017, a song recorded by Zayn and Sia. And while I am not really familiar with the former, I am quite a fan of the latter I must say, at least of some of her previous works, especially those starring Ziegler. Anyway, back to this one here, to the now I could almost say as this one is only a year old. Director is Marc Webb and you may have come across some of his pretty successful full feature films from recent years (500DoS, Spiderman), but still for him it is a return back to his roots as he started as a prolific music video director. Anyway, no matter how many explosions, car chases and martial arts dance performances this one has, I was never sucked in by the action and actually the plot and story they were trying to get in here. Maybe the reason is that it felt so rushed. Or that the dialogues were missing. Or that the presence of one familiar face from Girls just wasn't enough cast-wise. Maybe a mix of all of that and several other aspects. I never really had the impression that it is a music video you must see and where it is not just enough to listen to the record. Yes it does look expensive, especially the ending, but that alone does not stand for quality. Audio-wise I could not care less about Zayn who failed to make an impact, but Sia's easily recognizable voice still elevates the material at times, especially during the chorus. Not to a level though where I can ignore all the weaknesses otherweise. It's not a failure from any perspective, but I still have to give it a thumbs-down. Very forgettable video and song. Skip watch and listen both. Not recommended.
