Captivating!

I feel that Theo has one of the best stories in the show. Don't get me wrong, I love all of the characters and the show as a whole but Theo's story was compelling from start to finish. I love Kate Siegel and have watched her other movies and McKenna Grace is a fantastic young actress. This episode was great from start to finish.

Its not just horror, its much more

After telling about Steve and Shirley in the first two episodes this one focus on Theo. And from this point we realise this show is not about cliche horror and jumpscares and it is about childhood memories and traumas which haunts us more than ghosts.

Theodora is a very well written character

I enjoyed everything that was done in the episode. Some new discoveries. A consistent character development. A good balance between past and present. I feel like the previous episodes just kick-started the whole thing and it's now becoming really interesting.

Super effective

I have loved every episode so far, but this may be the most compelling of the three. Theo had a throughly investing story from beginning to end and I genuinely feel for her, which I wasn't expecting. Kate is a great actress and this is perhaps the best I've seen her so far. The last few scenes have me very anxious for what's to come.

Excellent visual storytelling in a great episode

Theo's job leads her to reflect on childhood events.

This is a very strong episode that is not only well made but has a plot that unfolds using great visual storytelling. I'm not going into details about the plot in order to remain spoiler free, but I will say that the story contains some dark, psychological themes and gives compelling background information about Theo that leads perfectly into her present day circumstance.

The camera moves and focuses in slow deliberate ways and together with the creepy lighting it creates a suspenseful atmosphere. This is combined with superb editing, particularly during the transitions when the plot changes time periods. We see Theo in the midst of a physical action as the scene seamlessly shifts to same action in another place and time.

What also impressed me was that even though I knew a certain character was alive, well and just looking back on an event, it still created tension and made me fear for that character during the flashback sequence.

Both Kate Siegel and McKenna Grace are excellent as Theo and all other actors provide solid support. Her character is given far more development in this episode which adds to the intrigue of the overarching series narrative.

He Was In The Basement!!!

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode opens with Young Shirley in bed being hugged by someone who Shirley thinks is Nellie but it's not real??

+1 Star for the opening scene...

We get more in this episode about the background of Theo. A psychologist with some obvious deep seeded issues of her own.

Haha and L:uke's trip to the basement in the dumbwaiter with his flashlight going out and something crawling around down there.

+1 Star for that scene, hhaha

I really liked the scene with Theo where she says Auntie Nell knew better about what a suicide does 'to a family'. 'And she did it anyway.'

+1 Star for that scene

And when Theo goes and touches Dead Nell, we know she saw something traumatic. We just don't know what it was yet.

+1 Star for the scene....

THEO'S TURN!!

Lol now I'm getting the hang of the show. This episode is in the point of view of Theo, which is so cool. Lots of good stuff in this episode and such a dope thing to unravel about her abilities. This show is 3/3 so far, each episode is a heavy hitter. Excited for episode 4!

S1.E3 - Theo-centric Episode [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E3) My Live Reaction / Review for The Haunting of Hill House Season 1 Episode 3 ''Touch''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Is Mr. Smiley real or just the imagination of this little girl? So Theo doesn't really believe in ghosts even after all of the things that heppened when they were children. Did Theo just see Mr. Smiley? We know that Nell died but we don't know exactly how, I would like to know. So Theo thinks that Mr. Smiley is the dad of the girl? That would be very disturbing, but is it true? She also called the cops? Damn, the guy could be innocent. This episode focused on Theo. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

Ok...

Ok, so this is how the series gonna be, I think now i know the way\style of story narration. Coming to the episode Theo as a character is compelling, and her origin story is made better by the talent of young McKenna Grace And Kate siegel.

Warning: Spoilers
I am still not sure what to make of this show.

After this episode I am not really convinced that there is a plan and think they are just giving us weird moments to talk about that won't be addressed or wrapped up by the finale.

Time will tell if I am wrong, but just another so-so episode in my book.
