Ji-an Helps Dong-Hoon and Meets His Friends
vivianla6 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Dong-hoon and his wife have crumbled on the floor after her apology. He screams did she think working behind the scenes to get him fired and leave him broke would be easier than to get a divorce immediately? He sobs at all the times he believed her when really she was having sex and kissing - business trip, late nights.

His wife fights back saying he made her very lonely and focuses on his side of the family more than the three of them.

In the car Dong-hoon's brother compliments his own swearing saying every word is something "cadence" and every word is worth to hold on to.

Dong-hoon joins his team to finish work despite him not necessarily having to. The team greets him cheerfully and tell him that Ji-an has agreed to stay back as well, surprisingly.

When work is done the group rushes to the lobby and to scan their ID cards to reach the subway in 4 minutes. Ji-an and Dong-hoon manage to run inside but two co-workers don't make it in time. One man tells the other that he would have made it if he ran by himself.

It is awkward between Ji-an and Dong-hoon. She spots the man who spies on them with a camera and tells Dong-hoon. She leaves their car for the next one. The cameraman follows her and Dong-hoon follows and stops when he reaches her. He protectively stands by her.

Dong-hoon tells Ji-an the only reason she likes him is because he is pitiable like her. I can feel the maturity he has in his posture and Ji-an is an innocent twenty-year-old.

They walk by the neighbourhood bar and all of Dong-hoon's friends are outside ready to go home. They are surprised to see Dong-hoon with a girl and he introduces her as his subordinate. He tells them she lives behind an elementary school and a man reinforces that he should walk her home as it is a dangerous neighbourhood.

The group decides to walk together in same direction. The lights and the quietness of the still night air looks refreshing and calming. The older adults are compassionate and their eyes sparkle speaking to young Ji-an. They joke that she would have to take a different route to avoid her crazy boss but the bar owner says he is not dangerous. She stayed with him in the same hotel rooms and he did not make a move on her. This was when they were looking for their friend who ran off to be a monk.

The bar owner says that they all used to be in their twenties fondly. Ji-an says she wishes she was older like them because life would be easier. They all smile with eyes sparkling showing compassion. They know how she feels.

They reach her home and the adults talk of the fragile door and call a friend at the window to watch for strange males lurking around out of concern. They all give their farewells and it is awkward as Ji-an does not say anything back. She finally says thank you at the last minute and they graciously and fondly give replies.

The adults walk silently and then the bar owner says even when they were young life was hard.

The wife meets with CEO to discuss. Ji-an arrives and CEO looks surprised. The wife looks dismayed that Ji-an and her husband "did stuff" and nervously asks what they did. Ji-an laughs and dryly asks if she is concerned she slept with him? She laughs as the wife has done much worse.

Ji-an comes home one evening to find loan shark sitting in front of her door. The neighbour at the window watches them.

Ji-an is called into a meeting with upper management (assumedly she was told on by the CEO). She gives a honest and good reply for why the relationship with Dong-hoon came to be.

Dong-hoon and her go to a restaurant after work. Vibes are really good. I like the interior. He tells her he is not as good as she makes him to be but she respectfully tells him he is a good person. He looks pleased to hear this.
