Dark hearts

I knew something was shady with the doctor but I did not see that coming, very dark but very well done. Great acting and storyline development.

Warning: Spoilers
I like the show and Jon is great as the Punisher but the last fight scene was ridiculous, I know it and you know it. They did that flash thing and Frank got all worked up and firing at nothing. Thought that method worked well when the person couldn't turn away from the light which Frank could and still he could've shot them but instead he just yelled at them like a crazy man.

He gets beaten to a pulp, all gasping and bleeding from the mouth and then after a few moments he's killing everybody in seconds... ooh no..

I didn't get that idea that he needs to believe that he's better than Russo... he is, hands down. He didn't do what Russo did and besides, when he killed the bad guys, he killed bad guys who hurt people. It's twisted to a point... until a tragedy happens to you and then you don't find him so irrational after all... and the women he thought he killed.. dunno why he was got frozen like that. It wasn't like he meant to kill them. He should've run. Self preservation trumps all.. but anyways,, let's see where it goes from here

Top of the season reached.
juanbks1523 January 2019
Finally, the season reaches its top right here. What an episode.

I am sure this is what we all were waiting for. Bill and Frank. At the end of the episode, there is probably the best scene I've seen in the season. And no, I am not talking about action. Well played, Bill. Too bad it's too late in my country to give it another episode.

Throughout episode 10, we see Madani and Krista in a very interesting talk. There's a debate about Frank and Billy, about who is the bad and who is the good, but we all get to know why Krista called Madani, right?

Also, we see more about Pilgrim. He has an interesting story, it's a shame they waited this long to build the character a bit more.

This was my favourite yet in the season, and I feel there are more to come in the last three.

This episode is a true masterpiece
czechboy22 January 2019
I honestly think that The Dark Hearts of Men might be one of the most beautifully put together episodes that Netflix/ Marvel have put together yet. the calm first half of the episode with the rainstorm cleverly builds up to what you get to experience in the last half. 10/10

Pilgrim's Progress - Welcome to Hell! One of the strongest episodes to date.
DVD_Connoisseur22 January 2019
I could easily run out of superlatives for this episode. It starts in a dark place and takes the viewer deeper into the bowels of hell, both psychologically and physically.

With Pilgrim's past revealed, we see the beast within the suit. Josh Stewart's character has taken a back seat in recent episodes but here we see the threat he poses is absolutely real.

Mirroring this is the unexpected evening in which Madani and Krista open a bottle of wine and, it would initially seem, bond. But is anything straight forward?

Castle's attack on Russo's compound is one of the most brutal set pieces to-date and will leave the viewer shellshocked.

A gut punch to the soul.

Great idea, terrible development
tobe_199124 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What it could have been the best episode of the season ended up being the worst. I think it had the worst editing in this Netflix/Marvel universe. I was thrown off a lot of times. Because the flashbacks are not even use in a clever way. What a shame for the last season of The Punisher on Netflix. Appart from that. It had kind of good fight scenes.

No Good Man

Say what you want about the realism in some of the action, but this episode was the first of this season that felt perfectly crafted from start to finish. The opening left me intrigued and by the end I was left with a bittersweet taste as Frank's character has started down a new path. This is a great example of the type of excellent writing and direction that elevates this series to Daredevil's for me. Best episode of the season so far but I suspect the best is yet to come.

Josh Stewart also got to stretch his legs a bit too which is always a bonus.

The essence of the comic
darkmonn8821 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best chapter of the season by far, since the begining till the end it was perfect, i rarely have seen something like this in television , we can feel the essence of thw comic in each escene begining with great suspense while frank and curtis watch for billy, after this we have a wonderful scene of pilgrim who is perfectly directed , this was so important know the feelings of the villain and give him a rellay interestic taste, after that we have madani and the dr talking a so interesting conversation a clasic of the comic of why castle should be different anyway to billy even if seems similars, we have after a so terrific and wonderful escene so thrilling when frank tries to attack billy and his friends , increible escene wow wee need more like this in tv finally we have frank showing us why he is the punisher and the final escene a villain or a hero? Is the essence of the comic in the little screen but perfect, i hope jon bernthal have any globe, oscar or any for this he deserve it tottaly , and too wait to the show not to be cancel or to continue with jon just playing it any site why not in the phase 4 of the mcu? Well by now just to say this is a hell of show

How to break a viewer
paultapner6 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
How it should have ended:

Krista: 'I know how to break the viewer.' Billy: 'how?' Krista: 'Spend forty seven mins with characters going on and on with psychobabble about frank and billy, when they're just telling us stuff we already know anyway. Get frank beaten up a fight scene that has been spoilered because of flash forwards anyhow. And then suddenly reveal there's a point to the whole thing in the last few seconds.' Billy: 'yeah, see what you mean. They could have done this episode in ninety seconds flat with the same amount of content. '

Just watch the last couple of mins. None of what comes before is essential.

A question to anyone who rated this episode highly.....
liowik24 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This IS the episode where the show just started to nosedive. How can ANYONE justify Frank getting torn apart (in a contrived avant-garde arsty style no less) literally sliced up and beaten to pulp, and then without any superpowers then just gets up and takes on the whole entourage as if he HADNT been beaten to a pulp?!?! That completely RUINED the realism of the show. His body shouldnt have been able to function even if adrenaline had kicked in. Then more completely unrealistic nonsense: Curtis in the middle of a mission mind you, while his friend is utter peril, decides to completely abandon him, and decides to instead take loads of time patching up a stray member of Russo's team. I understand he wants to help others but I think it doesnt make sense that he would abandon and risk Frank's life for this. There is a pecking order to good deeds - first you ensure the safety of your OWN team. Was liking the show up to this point but this episode really went down hill. Of course based on the ridiculous high scoring of this episode it appears everyone just love's it blindly because of their addiction to action and when things start to move in the plot, but fail to recognize the big hit to realism. I hope things turn around a lot in this area, but I just lost a lot of faith for sustained quality for the rest of the episodes... probably going to be a mediocre end result.

The Dark Hearts of Men
bobcobb30122 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The Pilgrim being so dominant is just too absurd, but darn if it is not good television and why we watch shows and movies in this genre.

I am not loving this season, but it still has that popcorn flick vibe to it.

9.2?!?! Remove your Marvel glasses and be objective.
jakobsjoestrand20 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
**Spoilers** First of all, the fight scene in the warehouse was the weakest so far. The unbeatable Punisher walks right in to the terrible trap made by Billy Russo. Castle then proceeds to be uncharacteristically irrational, shooting at nothing and everything. On top of that, one of the stronger female leads, played by the brilliant Amber Rose Revah, is reduced to an emotional, irrational, wine drinking loud mouth.. Talk about ruining a strong female character in one episode. And for what? So that the other strong female character in the show, Krista Dumont played by Floriana Lima, could move deeper towards the villain side and prove that she truly has abandoned all her ideals for love of the bad guy? Oh please, I've seen it a hundred times before. The show started of great but now the weak story and the ruined characters has taken it from a great 9/10 to a barely watchable 5/10. I am generously giving it 5/10 because of the amazing fight scenes and the acting of the talanted Josh Stewart and John Bernthal.

Same plot all over again
nicofreezer11 October 2021
Russo vs Frank , bill vs Cattle Billy vs Frank, Always the same script since Season 1, I dont understand why after a very very strong start of Season 2, ( 3 great episodes of TV) then the Come back to NYC was the beggining of the end, and the end of creativity.

A nice one
Leofwine_draca27 February 2022
A nice little episode, this one, with continuing darkness throughout. There's violence and a big twist in Frank's storyline, and the rather underutilised character of Pilgrim makes his own impact.

You're all so in love with violence you can't tell the good stuff from the rubbish.
steve-667-1019029 January 2019
Steven Seagal (hard to kill era) would've mopped the floor with Castle as depicted in this series. Seagal took everyone down with minimal pulverizing and maximum maiming. To me that was more realistic than this gore fest. Castle isn't super powered. He takes way too much punishment to prevail. I'm a comic nerd from way back but this; jeez I dunno.

What?
silverton-3795910 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This season has been kind of bearable via the viewer's ability to jump out of the long, melodramatic dialogs with the shrink, but then we get to an episode that doesn't allow that. The whole episode is girl talk between the shrink and the Homeland gal, with a few minutes inserted that are nothing but silly video game gunfighting.

Five is too generous. I think I'll just give it a two in my own mind.
