Well, I will say that the storyline idea here in "Lured" was pretty good, and writer and director Dawei Lee definitely had some very interesting aspects that was brought into the storyline and the movie. However, the movie was just so predictable that you knew exactly what was going on not even one-quarter into the movie.

And I must admit that the predictability of the movie was something that ruined the overall entertainment of the movie. And I think if the storyline had offered more surprises and if director Dawei Lee had opted to keep the audience in the dark, then "Lured" would have been a much more impactful and entertaining movie all together.

Because the storyline was so predictable, it felt like the movie never really spanned out at it was supposed to, especially since it felt like I was always one step ahead of the storyline.

In fact, the movie was adequately entertaining for the first two-thirds, then it just slipped down a slope and because sort of laughable and ridiculous, and the movie never really managed to get back up and over that slope.

Lei Wang, whom played Kate in "Lured", was the driving force behind this movie, as she really carried the majority of the movie with her individual performance. There isn't a whole lot of characters to relate to in "Lured" - in fact there are essentially only two characters that you have to relate to. So of course the pressure to carry the movie was left up to Jeff Gonek (playing Jason) and Lei Wang (playing Kate).

For a horror movie then "Lured" was just a stroll through the park, as writer and director Dawei Lee seemed to be following a how-to-make-a-horror-movie script to the point. Hence the predictability of the outcome. And it wasn't really a movie that was crammed with overly scary things. Nay, "Lured" was more of a supernatural thriller.

Visually then "Lured" was pretty low key. Don't expect an abundance of special effects that will bedazzle you, and you will be okay. Whatever little effects were in the movie were practical effects, and they weren't all that impressive. They worked out as intended, for sure, but they weren't impressive.

"Lured" is a movie that is adequate for a single viewing if you have nothing better to watch at hand and find yourself in for a quick fix of a supernatural thriller.

My rating of the 2019 movie "Lured" lands on a very bland and mediocre five out of ten stars.

Firstly - if you're not a fan of found footage movies, then don't watch, obviously. But if you like found footage movies (like I do), then you'll enjoy this film. The movie has obvious budgetary limitations, which explains the ghosts' makeup; and the acting in this movie is poor. In addition, the characters perform some straight up dumb actions. Nonetheless, the movie offers some decent scares, the setting is creepy, and the pacing is good enough to hold your interest from start to finish.

Or, Wild Goose Chase: The Movie. Creepy as F guy travels halfway around the world to an extremely remote village to meet a girl he's been chatting with online. Guy's so full of himself, he films every aspect of his life (this includes leering up and down at the girl he just met). Assuming he has a vlog, as he films himself talking, and is constantly talking to himself, er, he shares his every thought he's got with his camera. Endless battery supply! Also, maybe the most dense lead I've ever seen in a horror movie. Oh, how does your script go? You tie me up? I'm a sacrifice? Ok! What's worse, the acting is atrocious. I'm sure the awkward dialogue didn't do anyone any favors, but man, what a mess. So much of a mess, that I lost track of the number of unintentional laughs in this. Yes, I'm giving this movie a slightly higher rating due to sheer ineptitude.

I could not have crapped a dumber twist ending to this movie. It is mind-boggling how ill-conceived, lazy, and thoughtless this ending is. What the writer/director is trying to say is: Ha! You just watched an 80-minute red herring.

Oh yeah, there are stills and characters on the back cover of the DVD that don't appear in the movie. You know, to "lure" you in? That rascal got me again!

How dumb can someone be? All signs pointed to no from the beginning of his travels. A want to be horror movie maker yet every horror sign he ignored or didn't even recognize. His reactions were unbelievable, his choices dumb, and his reasoning non existent. Plus his acting was worse than a child's at all times. Perfect put you to sleep movie.

It's not a bad premise; an American world traveller treks to meet an Asian girl he's been chatting up for six months.

Something is definitely off with her, but our male protagonist comes off as creepy-as in a creeper-creepy. His "acting" is terrible, I tried, but I couldn't like him at all.

The make-up on the scary actors is so, so terrible. An eight year old could have done a better job with those Halloween kits sold at grocery stores.

It's lame. I realize it's an Indy low budget attempt, but come on, try a little...

I gave it two stars because it could have been something pretty good had there been a better director, artists and actors (except Lei Wang as Kate she, at least, tried). Decent idea, very poorly executed.

I could see past the low budget.

I could see past the amateurish acting.

I could see past the moments of cringe-worthy dialogue and monologue.

I could see past the unbelievable and illogical actions of some characters.

I could see past all this and more because I felt, despite everything, there was an interesting story underneath it all.

But then, at the eleventh hour, the filmmakers decide to throw in a "plot twist" that renders everything the audience has sat through so far basically meaningless. That may have been forgivable if the twist actually added something or even made sense, but it doesnt; it's simple an attempt to be unpredictable regardless of whether or not it works.

Ultimately, this is a film I sat through because I thought it may deliver despite its shortcomings, but actually ended up disappointimg me.

I think they started filming without a script....it makes no sense. It's not remotely scary. The makeup to make the people look scary feels right out of a carnival side show.....just awful. I'm not sure why I'm giving it 2 stars even....wishful thinking perhaps.

This movie is pure stupidity its boring, looks like a high school project gone bad honest.

The way it is filmed and so much more. Skip this one boring til the end.

I like the atmosphere. I am a found footage horror fan. And this one looks a good FF film and a little special. I am from Taiwan and watched a lot of Asian or Hollywood horror movies. In my opinion this one combines both style. Not great but not bad. Small budget but it really works.

K, so not many good reviews here. I'm not gonna kick a dead horse here but good Lord, the main male actor, Jason?, is just terrible. I mean awful, he says the dumbest things at the dumbest times and is so creepy, he even makes me uneasy and I'm a guy! Can only imagine how the ladies feel around him. Just a terrible actor and character. Other reviews have complained about the make- up. I'm not that far yet, so I'll update, I just had to get this off my chest about the main protagonist of the movie.

I think a high school film club can do better than this lol I finished it so it i guess it's not that bad. The story needs a lil something and the audience was spoon-fed too much. The ending shot/scene was ummmm cringy.

This movie is awful. It makes no sense. Don't watch it.

Dumbest movie ever! Wasted half way of the movie and decided to stopped watching. Boring, amateur.... I gave it a 1.

I assume someone had an idea, someone else had some film equipment, and some actors were desperate to be in a "movie." This is not found footage. It wants to be horror. I love low budget horror and that's why I watched this. Don't waste your time. You can scroll through it to get an idea of just how bad it is. There's no point wasting 90 minutes of your life on this.

Found footage film about a guy visiting his online girlfriend and supernatural stuff happens. Good for the first two thirds. The last third gets boring.
