Mall Zombies
ninjaboyballer20 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Sorry I'm a bit late. School and everything. Anyway this episode was slightly better then the last one. Like other review are saying these episodes have good character development but do little to drive and narrative forward. Like I buy Morgan and Graces relationship and there time together as real character development and chemistry. As well as Dwight's time with one of Logan's men, having learned from his time with the saviors. I also love the Dawn of the Dead type feel I got from the mall setting. But Fear isn't really driving the plot forward a whole lot and is usually stuck in one place. And I'm kinda annoyed of what Morgan did to Grace in the end.

Overall this episode has good moments but little to drive the plot. And I'm really annoyed with what Morgan did. It's not Lennie James but the way the writers wrote him in that situation.

Final rating: 7.3/10

Great Character Development, but Some Missed Opportunities
starsurfer833 September 2019
Morgan and Grace get some time in a mall with some throwback to the DotD . . . The character development continues to be front and center here (second episode in a row) and there seems to be a jump forward we're experiencing with a future episode sure to fill in some of the pieces of the current mysteries (gasoline barons?).

I wish that the scenes in the dark corridors would have been better choreographed . . . there was a real opportunity for the stunt coordinators to shine . . . but it just didn't happen.

Good directing!! Finale.
zmilacic20 August 2019
Finally the producers have decided to spend some money on a good and creative director. Now all they have to do, is the same for some good writers. Before it's too late, almost giving up on this show!

You can't deny that this episode is poignant and well-done

"210 Words Per Minute" is a really good episode. I've enjoyed it throughout! The whole dynamic between Grace and Morgan feels natural. Dwight's storyline is also well-written. The atmosphere in the shopping-mall is amazing and I loved how Grace and Morgan handled every obstacle together! This episode has also great character development in store for us and I'm in love with Grace's character, she is very likeable! Loved her motivations and thoughts throughout the episode. The dialogue in this ep is decent and touching! Can't wait for the next episode!

Repetitive episode set up.
cruise0120 August 2019
Episode 5.10 (3 out of 5 stars).

Morgan and Grace search an empty shopping while trying to search for a guy they talked to on a radio. With the guys wish that if he was infected by the time anyone found him to take care of it. While Grace is suspicious that she may be sick from the radiation. And paranoid about her survival. While Dwight is trying to be the better person than he once was.

The episode is slow moving. And boring. Characters are stupid when they make dumb decisions. There was nothing exciting about this episode except Morgan and Grace fighting off zombies searching for that one guy throughout the episode.

i not understand this season
Froggys727216 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Too many illogical things that could never happen in an apocalypse, thousands of liters of water and food always, I mean, Morgan and Grace walk into a protein store or whatever that is, you could eat that for years, the market was completely full, nobody took anything before. Ok

And that's nothing, the noise and the lights attract walkers only when the writer wants it.

The decisions that the characters make ... my God totally useless and suicidal.

On the other hand dialogue after dialogue and sayng the same things without reaching any point without evolution of characters, the "help" they want to give to unknown people without thinking about them a bit, the worst thing is that they are going to bury a stranger, I do not know what to say, totally a waste of ideas.

Why Morgan leaves if that is so sad for him? Sorry but i didnt understand that. If he want to go find Al why he dont ask Grace if she wants to go with him??

The acting is good, that must be said, the shots and how it is filmed is nice. Action scenes are good too.

Well executed episode filled with superb character development and action in familiar territory
Holt34419 August 2019
Morgan, Dwight and the newcomer Grace in a shopping mall influenced heavily by Dawn of the Dead which is personally my favorite zombie movie of all time was a great part with lots of personal character development for Morgan and Grace. There were also lots of great zombie kills, some of the season's best action as it was well thought out and nicely executed. I understand how the writing of this episode could make people dislike the episode but there is something beautiful and human about it and it is what the group is about, to help people. The other plot was short but perfect in terms of character development. Something that was negative about the episode was that half the characters were absent but the incredible character development and location made up for it.

Morgan, Grace and Dwight take home the episode's best acting, delivering great performances and emotion to the characters. Lennie James' performance was beatiful, truly giving all his heart and emotion to the role of Morgan, which is a character we have followed now for 8 years with his horrors and happiness and this season have so far been a success regarding Morgan's character and this episode adds even more character development to the character.

5x10 Rating: 7.0/10

Storyline: A man named Charles radios Morgan's group to say he saw their video and wants them to come to the mall he's holed up in to kill him, since he's been bitten.

At the mall, Dwight cuts down a walker with his axe and leads Morgan and Grace inside. In an office, Morgan and Grace find an iPod with a note from Charles promising his favorite songs. They also find a chair where he tied himself up until he turned and a herd of walkers on the ground level. Suddenly, Grace passes out and Morgan tells Dwight to find a first aid kit.

Elsewhere, Daniel and Skidmark are leading the caravan of survivors around to find Logan. They find fresh bullet rounds by a gas station. He plays music over the radio as a storm approaches. Back at the mall, Morgan wakes Grace who is laid upon a mattress. Dwight enters with the update from Daniel. Morgan instructs Dwight to return to the caravan to bring trucks so they can load up while Grace decides she'll stay behind and help.

Outside the mall, Dwight gives Morgan a package of water bottles to bring into the mall before he heads out. He reminds Morgan what it's like to be on the other side of taking people's stuff and asks how he thinks this will end for them. Morgan hopes Logan will recognize the good they're doing, but Dwight knows this morality won't be enough. Dwight ultimately radios to Daniel to tell him he is heading south.

Inside, Grace listens to "A Tale of Two Cities" on the iPod as she looks at the herd in the ground level, preparing to find Charles. Morgan stops her and Grace admits she wanted to get to the urgent care downstairs to know if she really had radiation poisoning. She asks Morgan to help her get to the generator and she'll do the rest and he agrees.

On the road, Dwight gets held up at gunpoint while taking a leak. Rollie confirms he works with Logan before knocking him out. Back in the mall, Morgan uses a toy car to draw away the walkers while he and Grace try to get to the generator. As they make their way down, Grace walks toward a walker she believes to be Chuck but gets the whole herd to chase her, forcing them to lock themselves in a store. Morgan assures her Dwight will rescue them tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Dwight wakes up in the back of a truck at night. Rollie threatens him but Dwight reveals he knows how this works. He pistol whips him but Dwight recovers and tells the man he won't tell him where the oil fields are, reminding him he's been through much worse. At the mall, Morgan and Grace bond over her past and she reiterates how scared she is about the radiation. When she prompts Morgan to talk about his son, he refuses. Suddenly, the walkers begin cracking the glass on the door and they're forced to move.

Back in the truck, Dwight is visited by Rollie again. He turns his attention to the letters from Sherry and believes those will get Dwight to talk. He starts lighting one on fire. As Dwight lunges at him, Rollie pulls his gun at his face. Suddenly, a walker approaches and Dwight manages to throw him to the ground, take his gun, and knock him out.

While traversing the dark corridors of the mall, Morgan explains to Grace that Duane was six when he got him a remote control car. "He made me smile. He did. See, I've always been a kind of serious guy except with them. That's how I knew it was right," Morgan explains while also admitting he found himself smiling on his first date with his wife. He then asks Grace if she has someone, but she admits she never wanted a relationship out of fear.

They get the generator working and the power comes on in the mall. They lift the gate on the clinic, which causes the alarm to sound and a new horde of walkers to chase them. Morgan gets attacked by a walker on an escalator and Grace saves him. The herd starts making its way up the stairs and they are also surrounded from the sides. Grace finds a way to send the escalator back down. They break into the security room and finally turn off the alarm. Grace grabs the keys as Morgan notices Charles on one of the monitors, still alive.

Meanwhile, Dwight walks Rollie to a clearing and tells him he was given a second chance and he's paying it forward by giving him one as well. He unties the man and tells him to make a choice. At the mall, Morgan and Grace find Chuck on the roof and he tells them he still wants to be buried under the stars, despite it being a cloudy night. Grace takes out a kid's toy which projects stars on an overhang, which he appreciates crying in joy.

The next day, Morgan and Grace bury Chuck outside the mall and put a stuffed turtle on top of him. They make it to the Urgent Care, where Grace decides she no longer wants to go inside because she doesn't want to find out when she is going to die. They hang out at the mall and ride the carousel.

Later, Daniel arrives hoping for a Cinnabon roll but gets disappointed. Dwight updates them on his run-in and suggests they should be more careful. Tess then mentions they could settle in at a ranch they passed on the road. They agree and the group begins loading the mall supplies into their trucks. Daniel finally cuts Dwight's hair and beard. Grace switches her audiobook to normal speed, signaling she's finally enjoying her life.

Morgan tells Grace he's not going with her because he has to help Al. They separately shed tears as he drives off.

Character
dmck-3234319 August 2019
I'm not really a zombie fan. I'm not even a horror fan. But I love TWD and FTWD because I love a good story - I guess I'm like Al in that regard - and I love good characters. I love seeing how people respond to unfathomable circumstances, how their characters develop. And that's what this episode was. If you thought it was boring, you might be a little too addicted to high energy-intense action. This may be my favorite episode. Morgan's explanation of what makes him smile, Darryl's challenge to Logan's guy, Grace's decision, the mini-arc with Chuck - those are all BIG things, and I loved every minute of it.

The episode addresses themes of mortality, the search for beauty in desolation, and the human need for connection and meaning beyond mere survival
fernandoschiavi23 April 2024
Morgan, Dwight, and Grace receive a call from someone who is bit and wants them to kill him before he turns. At the mall, Grace passes out and thinks the radiation sickness is kicking in. Getting trapped in the mall, they decide to hold out until Dwight returns with medical supplies. They eventually find the man and they allow him to see a nighttime sky before he passes away peacefully. Grace decides to continue living instead of focusing on when she may die.

As Dwight returns to the caravan, he encounters Rollie, one of Logan's men, and is captured. After taunting Dwight about Sherry, he turns the tables but rather than kill him, Dwight spares Rollie and sends him on his way. As the caravan arrives, Morgan leaves on a run without telling Grace his true feelings towards her.

The tenth episode of the fifth season of "Fear the Walking Dead," titled "210 Words Per Minute," provides a poignant exploration of hope, despair, and redemption amidst the chaos of a zombie apocalypse. The episode begins with a distress call from a stranger named Chuck, who is bitten and seeking a final wish-to see the sky one last time. This sets Morgan, Grace, and Dwight on a perilous journey to a zombie-infested shopping mall, introducing both suspense and a rich setting for character development.

As the trio navigates the complexities of the mall, the setting itself becomes a character, echoing the trapped existence and latent desires of the survivors. The mall, a relic of normalcy and consumerism, now serves as a battleground for survival and a temporary refuge. The characters' interactions within this microcosm are revealing: Grace struggles with her terminal illness and the fear of imminent death, while Morgan wrestles with the balance between self-preservation and the altruistic mission of helping others. Dwight, still adjusting to the group and grappling with his own demons, finds a kind of redemption in their collective efforts.

One of the most compelling scenes is Grace's impromptu karaoke performance, an act that beautifully contrasts with the grim realities outside. This moment of levity not only provides a brief respite but also deepens our understanding of Grace's character, illustrating her attempts to find joy and normalcy in what could be her final days. The scene is tender and tragic, as it underscores the fleeting nature of happiness in their world.

In conclusion, "210 Words Per Minute" effectively blends action, emotional depth, and character exploration. The episode thoughtfully addresses themes of mortality, the search for beauty in desolation, and the human need for connection and meaning beyond mere survival. By the episode's end, viewers are left reflecting on what it means to truly live versus merely survive in a post-apocalyptic world. This installment of "Fear the Walking Dead" not only advances the plot but also invites viewers to contemplate the profound questions of existence and humanity.

They keep screwing it
liooizki2 December 2019
I can't even stand Morgan anymore, he has become a poor character and very boring. He takes too many pauses when talking and makes me want to sleep. I had to watch it in 1.5x velocity to not die from boredom. I really hope it get better man, they can't just keep screwing it up

Individual episodes are handled well
hhound-6180927 August 2019
Ok that was the best Morgys episode in this series every time they focus more on character relationships it's better remember "Laura" episode of season 4,"Close Your Eyes" (Alicia episode) and "The End Everything" Althea episode (I'm a straight guy and i dislike LGBT relationships but in this series they rarely do gay kiss scenes and i can't deny that this episode was well done) and now this one too bad that it's just a few good episodes are written well!

Morgan is my least favorite character, when is he going to get bit?
epluribusunumusa20 August 2019
Morgan's stupidities led by his "peace and love" at any price, "flower power" selfish campaign to make amends for his earlier wrongs by constantly exposing his cohorts to danger in order to satiate his campaign needs have me rooting for the zombies to bite him the posterior so we can be done with him. This episode has his proclivities for doing "unsmart" things on full view.

Boring, again
wlion211018 August 2019
All of the characters have become bland & boring, sharing the same personalities as Morgan's in this whole "trying to help people in a stupid way" thing, even Daniel or Dwight. Why would I have to care about Grace when basically she's just Morgan in a female body? Actually I find it hard to care about anyone of them now, no one stands out or is really interesting enough for me to care about anymore. I have a better idea. Why don't we just kill Morgan and the lazy writers and move on from this stupid storyline?

S5.E10 - Beautiful and Emotional Episode [8/10]
panagiotis19936 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S5. E10) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 10 ''210 Words Per Minute'': Episode 9 was a bit mediocre and I gave it a rating of 6.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. I don't like Grace but I hope she isnt sick from the radiation. So this episode has no Alicia, no Al, no Victor, no John, no Luciana, no June? That sucks. Why do they keep doing this? They got Dwight? Damn. They expect Dwight to come back? Perfect plan Morgan. This guy hit Dwight? Now I hate him. Dwight has guts. Dwight knows how to fight, nice. Ok Dwight escaped. Some really cool action scenes with Morgan and Grace. The scenes with Chuck are so emotional. Dwight's new look is awesome. Al is alone? Where is she? What is Morgan talking about? Isnt she with the others? Overall a pretty good episode, my rating is 8/10.

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been nothing but dialogue after dialogue after dialogue. and dealing with personal issues. I mean come on, how much character building does one need. the fact that you risk everything to save someone dying in a red jacket in a mall speaks volumes. let us settle somewhere and then try reaching out and help others. if you are always on the run you cannot do much.

Never have I ever been so terribly bored watching a "zombie" show. Even though I was playing scrabble in my phone I was extremely close to switching over. Who is writing this pathetic and predictable garbage? This season just keeps getting worse!

Nothing Really Happens Episode 10
TheDragonfly4419 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Mild spoilers. Another episode of Fear The Walking Dead chock full of character development. The character development in this episode admittedly is pretty good but there's no story advancement. Much like the previous episode you could probably skip it and not miss out on much. At least someone finally died this season, but it's off screen and a character just introduced. If this was the only mostly unimportant episode this season I'd probably be willing to give this episode a 6/10 but theres been just way too many episodes this season that are mostly just a waste of time.

Fear the Walking Soap Opera! Here we go again. Morgy the Most Unrealistic Character in TV History Strikes Again.
Bababooe19 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Where do we start with this one? Last week was so boring, that I actually shut it off 10 minutes in, then tuned back in for the last few minutes. I usually get something to laugh at, mostly from how ridiculous the writers make these characters and their situations. Not last week. Not this week. Current plot of this show is that everybody is following Morgy the Holy Man in his quest to right the wrongs of his past by helping everyone. Even to the point of chasing after voices on the radio and flying and crashing a plane into a radiated area. So, what was the worst thing that Morgy do? He along with King Dick Rick crossed a bunch of escaped Hilltop Saviors by giving them their word of sanctuary then killing them. Thanks Dick. Our Hero.

So, everybody is following Morgy in a convoy, like Battlestar Galactica. Tons of fuel, supplies, unlimited batteries for walkies, and cars. They are being hounded by Logan, Oooh, the big bad guy, looking for Mad Max fuel.

This episode we have Morgy, Grace the Radiation Lady Slowly Dying from Radiation, and Scraface Dwight X Savior Redemption Project. What a bunch of Rejects. They are on a quest to kill a man bit by zombies, hanging out in a mall. A mall that nobody after 10 years has raided. Tons of supplies. How could that be? So, Grace passes out. Scarface heads out to meet up with the convoy. And we have some bonding time with Morgy and Grace. They find the dying guy and bury him. Grace wants to check her radiation level then decides she doesn't want to know, after risking their lives. And we have a cute merrygoround with Morgy and Grace. Nice.

Scarface gets caught by one of Logan's men. Scarface beats the crap out of him. Then tells the guy he has a choice to continue to be an A Hole or change his ways. I think it would have been more realistic if Scarface put one in the middle of that guy's face, in defiance of Morgy the Holy Man. Then lied to Morgy about letting the guy go. That my friends would be something. Not some BS pacifist crap. Scarface should then go complete Rambo and destroy Logan. Anybody Remember Carol Rambo before they turned her into a loser by having her bailed out on Why Do I Smile EZQO after he lost his son O'Henry to a zombie beheading, his Paper Mache Tiger, and his Stupid Kingdom to a once in a lifetime arctic storm? At the point when Dwight took Logan's man out of the trailer, rather than cutting his ties, and letting him go with a stupid Morgy speech, the whole show could have turned for the better. One bullet to the guy's head, and we could have seen the show dynamics change with Dwight realizing that Morgy is out of his mind and someone has to go full on Charles Bronson/Rambo here. And it ain't going to be Mr. Cowboy or any of the other pacifists who drank Morgy's Kool-Aid. Morgy can have his fantasy pacifism, and Dwight could get a few allies in secret to wipe out all the dangers around them. But hell, what do I know. Nobody asked me for my advice.

So the episode ends with the convoy arriving at the Mall, and Morgy bails out on Grace. Morgy is a loser.

Nothing to laugh at in this episode. Nothing of reality. Just a broken soap opera.

Dawn of the dead
Rob-O-Cop18 August 2019
I was looking forward to the whole shopping mall fun throw back to the classic dawn of the dead, but it didn't really go anywhere much with it. I did like the scenes with the red shirt guy on the roof. A little bit of humanity, but everything else in the space lead nowhere and they're going to discard the space cos they don't want the others to know about it so it was a bit of a dead end so to speak. The music was really good this episode though. Looks like we've got a convoy of trucks now, not sure where they're going with that but the trucker fans are going to be pleased. Morgan got plenty of screen time to explain himself badly, (something about having trouble moving on, or something) to Grace who also go her chance to shine and didn't really, then Morgan pulls away, cos he doesn't make connections except with everyone else. I must have missed the oil fields bit cos I don't recall our team having visited them, but apparently they're the kings of oil in the region now? No John Dorie, so kinda boring otherwise.

Dumb Dumber Dumbest
RottinApple197527 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It felt like watching Dumb and Dumber expect less entertaining.

Nothing makes sense anymore. The characters make increasingly dumb choices as the show progresses.

Why sit in front of a glass door with zombies watching you share touching moments? Why, in zombie TV shows, people always shoot at zombies wrestling with their friends and not kill their friends accidentally? If you're holding someone up at gun point why stick your guns at arm's reach where your hostage can knock the gun off your hand???

Why let someone who is clearly a killer go, knowing that he'll come back for you and your friends down the road???

Didn't the dying dude with the red jacket on the rooftop hear gunshots coming from inside the mall?

The characters, the dialogue, the writers...dumb , dumb, dumb. More importantly, the dumbest of all are we the people who keep watching hoping it'll get better. Why?

It doesn't look like it will.
