So I've been watching Team Kaylie lately and this episode, "19 Is The New 15" was rather interesting and surprising. Mainly because here, Kaylie's grandmother, someone who had been unheard of until now, arrives. Apparently, she believes Kaylie has just turned 15 because The Konrad Kronicles is 4 years late in her region. So she thinks it's time for her "quinceañera", a ceremony that happens upon turning 15.
Now over the course of the episode, we're more invested in Kaylie's family than in her friends so the kids take on the back-burner for a while. They spend their time planning the event and then ensuring that Kaylie , her mother and grandmother are on the same page. Ah well, things end up in a happily ever after but it is definitely a strange ride there.
I liked the addition and portrayal of the grandmother and am surprised that something like this wasn't done sooner. What I "didn't" like, however was how Valeria, my favourite character, actually annoyed me a bit. So I was left feeling heartbroken. But eh, I'm glad it's out there. I would love to see more of this soon! <3
