The Fast Show (1994–2014)
Fast and funny
15 September 2005
Have people already forgotten about this show? To me it is one of the best British comedy shows ever and yet is seems the people who loved it and celebrated it only a couple of years back, as 'Little Britain' is all over the place at the moment, have all "moved on". Let's hope 'LB' won't meet the same fate...

About the show: the format is perhaps not unique but it works, a good 90% of the jokes are simply hilarious, some make you laugh out loud, others make you smile and some even make you think... I would highly recommend the series to anyone who wants to laugh or even laugh so loud you cry!!! It also works well for those who're not used to Britcom and are perhaps a bit skeptic... they most likely won't be after watching this...

Swedish Christmas
15 September 2005
This lovely little story really represents Christmas as I know it... in Sweden most people spend a good part of Christmas Eve watching TV and this is one of the shows that has come to be a celebrated tradition, broad-casted every Christmas Eve for the last couple of decades. It is the tale of a modern day Robin-Hood whose generosity at first is met with suspicion but finally he manages to remind everyone he meets what Christmas is all about - giving and loving not greed for all the right presents.

The animations are funny and well done and the warm and comforting voice of Tage Danielsson guides us through the film, leaving us with a warm fuzzy beautiful Christmas feeling deep within.

Simply hilarious
12 September 2005
This is one of the best movies made in Sweden during WW2. It's just so much fun and with an all-star cast and Hildebrand in charge how could it not be? It's just one of the many collaborations of Hildebrand/Söderblom/Modéen/Botvid where-in Hildebrand directed the other three and often other celebrated comedic actors of the time. His first shot to fame was of course with 'Pensionat Paradiset'(1937) - a film that created a whole new genre in Scandinavian film-making and was quite amusing at that...

'Lilla Helgonet' is hilarious and boasts great performances from all its cast. I think they must have had fun shooting it and it shows off in their acting, apparently Hildebrand also knew how to bring out the best in all of them. It's well worth watching, many times over...

Fun under the sun
12 September 2005
A classical comedic line-up: the handsome but not so smart guy, his smart but not so handsome sidekick, a pretty girl, her protective father and neurotic mother... Yes, it's been seen before. Having said that I still find this movie to be a bit groundbreaking in the sense that in 1948 Sweden was still a very puritanical country(believe it or not)and the sight of all those half-naked bodies running around on the beach and the naughty jokes doesn't really go with that.

Söderblom, as always, saves this film from being a total disaster and makes it one worth watching, although not one of his best. Järrel also puts in a good performance, while the rest of the cast is quite mediocre. It was Gunvall's first film as a director and you can certainly notice his effort of trying to make something new, fresh and never-before seen. It's a good effort but it doesn't go all the way.

beautiful

So I've finally gotten around to watch this movie, years and years after its release. First of all let me say that I'm usually not a fan of Benigni's work, but this film was a wonderful exception. This is first and foremost a story of a man's love for his son and wife. Throughout the comedy and horrible tragedy that's what's essential. And so you imagine what you yourself would do, would you be able to stay strong for your child and want to protect them and make them laugh even when you're all worn out?! You'd hope so...

Benigni in this film is a worthy 'tramp' in the style of Chaplin. There's a healthy mixture of sad and funny moments and somehow the film manages to stay very serious and lighthearted at a time. I was however a bit stunned by the sudden ending but apart from that it's all in all a very good film.

A funny French film... look no further
11 September 2005
I'm not sure if this film ever made it past the French speaking market, but it surely deserved to. Jean Reno and Gerard Depardieu are both acting to perfection in (for them) unusual roles... We've become so used to seeing Depardieu as a boring romantic lead and Reno as either a goof-ball or a ruthless killer that we've almost forgotten that's not all they can. The movie would've been nothing without its two leads as much depends on the chemistry between the them and I frankly can't see any other French actor in their place. Yes, the script has it's ups and downs and the humor is still very French, the are some holes in the plot, but it's basically a good movie worth watching many times... It's a definite thumbs-up from me!!!

Tout le monde en parle (1998–2006)
Funny, funny, funny
29 September 2002
This is one of the funniest talk-shows on TV today. On every show there's a wide range of artists, writers, performers, actors, comedians and sometimes everyday people. Besides talking about what's hot and what's not in French society and culture, they also make sure to talk about something more "serious". So it's funny...with an edge. If you understand French and get a chance to watch it sometime, be sure to do it. You won't be disappointed.

Interesting but not great
12 July 2002
There are basically two types of war-movies: one taking place in the battle-field and the other showing what happens to civilians in war time; this being of the latter kind. But it has been done better in the past. Much better...

Of course it's not all bad, there are some incredible actors like Grégoire Colin, Jérémie Rénier and Julien Le Gallou; and some memorable lines as well. I don't care very much for Élodie Bouchez, though, she's over-acting throughout the movie, especially towards the end of it. And I think the script could have been better, the actors generally have too many lines and at the end of it I found myself not really caring about what would happen to these people -which is a shame because that's what it's all about.

I give it 3/10, no more, no less

A real bad movie
12 July 2002
This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of movies. Yes, it's true there are some jokes, but most of the time it's just incredibly boring. Don't waste your time on watching this! Without Tom Novembre or Bruce Campbell it would have been nothing. It's only because they were in it that I gave it 2/10.

Absolutely delightful!
12 July 2002
This is a wonderful film, a bit silly at times, but always delightful.

The cast is great and almost all songs are terrific. Of course it's a bit different from all the musicals that were made in Hollywood, but different is good(at least in this case, it is)... Although it is named after the two leading-girls, all characters are given equal 'space', and they all have their own special theme-songs. This is a definite must see: from Maxence to Yvonne, from Solange to Simon Dame, you will get to know and learn to love the people of that little town of Rochefort... 9/10
