Sorry for all the people crying and saying this movie is terrible because its not true to the book! TOO BAD!
Get over it... this is not Hawthornes movie!
Its Roland Joffes movie...
its his vision and his creation. His telling of a story!
This movie is better suited for those who have never read the book and thank god there are Millions who havent.

The Young Savages (1961)
Pure burt!
What an amazing movie! Why it didnt get the recognition it deserved at the time in beyond me.
Burt lancaster coming off his oscar win for elma gantry shines in this intense full of emotion action drama! Most of the movie is an investigation piece like youd see in law and order! And the last 20 minutes an explosive court room drama!
This film will touch any immigrant growing up in neighborhoods where racism existed. This will touch any boys who grew up with bad friends and did things just to find some friendship but knowing you shouldnt. And most importantly see the good in people. Trying to seek justice and help lost teenagers who have lost their way in society due to their up.bringing or neighborhood..
What an amazing movie!!
Unfaithful (2002)
great movie but! technical problems ruin the moment!
seems as though the microphone has more screen time than the actors do! I mean showing the tip of the mic is ok once or twice, but showing the whole mic and POLE then seeing it move from actor to actor is just too much! still I didnt let it bother me, the acting was great by all actors, the lighting and production design was spot on for the scenes! diane lane was fantastic and looked very beautiful great casting call! richard portrayed a character which is new to him, and olivier played the french lover playboy very well! all in all a great movie, the opening scene where the wind is blowing its amazing how adrian can make the scene so erotic and a burden to walk in at the same time!!
Tango & Cash (1989)
Classic Movie! not to be missed!
what a way to end a decade of fantastic movies.. 1989 teamed together Russel and stallone for a action comedy that will be remembered as a great partnership movie , teaming together two personalaties of extreme carisma.. not only is the movie so funny and full of one liners its packed with action and style, and not to mention a tread and fashion of the 80"s which will be never seen again..
I recommend seeing this movie if you havent seen it before, you must see it,I have seen it countless times over the past 12 years, and its always enjoyable as the first time I saw it... stallone and russel look cool, they were in the prime in those days, now 13 years later, they have aged abit, but are still two of my favorite actors...CLASSIC ACTION COMEDY!!CLASSIC 80'S FILM!
Black Rain (1989)
One of the best movies for it's genre!
1989 ending a decade of fantastic movies an era that was unique in so many ways, TALK about cop 80"s movies BLACKRAIN is in the top 10 EASY this movie takes you on a journey that is unforgettable in so many, this movie is for the collection, Ridney used some of the similar styles from bladerunner, that dark mysterious filming which expresses touching realism, backgrounded with Hans zimmers music, and the passion half way through the film of accepting new cultures and the revenge for charlie, the awesome action form douglas, garcia, takakura ,make this movie perfect, the japanese actors are very famous and respected in japan, acually the badguy is no longer with us he passed away, but this movie is American/Japanese... the classic 80's styles music, scenes, and exploring new cultures for the first time makes this movie magical, if you have never been to asia this film brings you all the thoughts you may have about Japanese backstreet life ending the 80"s .. I love this MOVIE.and it is one of most favorite films of all time! NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!
The Bounty (1984)
Gable, Brandon and Gibson...
Three great movies with three great actors. I have seen them all and I personally like the last... Everything about the movie was fantastic, perhaps it has alot to do with technology, in the past movies, 30's and 60's the technology was not as advanced as 84..I am sure if they made a New Bounty now, in 2002 it would be amazing, but I feel today there are not the actors to pull it off... Anthony Hopkins did an amazing portrayal as the captain..he should have won an oscar or at least been nominated... Mel gibson a fantastic job also, the cast cast was terrific... I love 80.s movies, for the color, the sound, the passion of the themes, the bounty had it all, with Vengelis, setting the mood, and the beautiful back drops of the pacific seeting the scene, and the wonderful acting of the cast it makes the movie one of my favorites.. roger donaldson and Arthur Ibbetson truely captured the moment, Artur has always been a great photograhic genius, with credits like willy wonker, and Little Lord Fauntleroy being child favorites of mine, and in need of great photographic angles , with the bounty he found that special moment with each scene...
Mel Gibson after completing films like MAD MAX, Galipoli made his American film debut with this great movie, the New Zealand director has made a movie which will never be beat...
If you are looking for a movie with a wonderful story great acting and breathtaking scenery with beautiful music, this is the movie for you. historical acually events makes it more the the reason the see... larence olivier and edward fox putting their expertise to the movie truely shows experience and greatness, Hopkins holds his own with the greats...
I can not say enough good words about this movie..its a favorite of mine and a fantastic movie, everything about it is just magic...
Gallipoli (1981)
AN amazing movie..
In the spirt of true classic 80's movie style, this movie delivers the goods, peter weir just know how to tell a story. people might say this film is slow, boring, whatever, it's too Australian don't understand, well I believe thats not true.. you can see it shows the journey of the two main charcaters, how they meet and how they get to turkey, an adventure movie with great scenery and the amazing Mechel jarre providing amazing music, that scene where they are running across the desert and the song oxigene, its a true classic... this movie is one of my favorites, everything about it is magic... mel gibsons first big movie after TIM, and the classic MAD MAX puts him in the lime light and kick starts his journey to superstardom... he chooses just movies, like bounty, braveheart, patriot, mrs soffel and the new we were warriors..shows meaning, all based on facts... the young gibson in 81 is wonderful to watch... I was raised in Australia and NEw Zealand so perhaps I can relate to this movie more than the Americans, but still when it comes down to film, photographic scenes, Acting, music, and story..this movie delivers with power!!! A MUST SEE!!!!! and one for the collection!!
